Strange that PG is not allowing me to share the direct URLs to my own posts .Hence I am copypasting the two posts I had given on this thread, for the benefit of newcomers. The first part contains general prep strategy and books u would require. The second part contains links to edu--tap materials from google drive, for ur benefit.U wont need any other coaching material as such. But if u are interested,u can check Kalinga IAS coaching materials for RBI grade b.In that case also dont buy the originals ,only procure xerox sets from online notes resellers, like Notesduniya,Flavido,Jawahar Book Centre,Studymaterial etc.
1>General Prep method for RBI grade b :
Trying to put up my experience on preparing for RBI grade b exam.I had appeared for mains last time in 2013,and then in 2014 or 15,I qualified for mains but couldnt appear, because of job pressure. And anyway I wasnt prepared that time, hence it was no use appearing Anyway for the benefit of aspirants on this thread,I am trying to put up a strategy.
Prelims :
1>Maths : U can use Fast Track Objective Arithmetic by Rajesh verma and Kiran's Quickest Mathematics books on this part.Learn the short tricks given in both books,A side advantage of this is that it will adequately cover ur ssc cgl tier 2 needs as well. For DI ,Kiran's quickest maths latest ed has a good exercise&chapter, dedicated to the same. And to be honest, higher level DIs are mostly about basic calculative skills, hence no need wasting too much time behind DIs anyway.
2>Reasoning :The best book,in my opinion is Reasoning by Indu Sijwali, probably Arihant publications. This book actually 'teaches' the harder concepts of reasoning like puzzles,input-output etc, instead of just narrating a few solved examples. But if u are comfortable with any book on reasoning, just follow that.I am telling this for people who are beginning prep. But practise this part well, since this carries 60 marks out of 200.
3>English : SP Bakshi's objective general english ,no second to this book right now in the market . I have heard that even Paramount's English book for cgl tier 2 is equally good, but I havent seen that book firsthand. But for all competitive exams in govt or PSUs,SP Bakshi is more than enough. It will cover ur cgl tier 2 english paper as well, for ssc aspirants.
4>General Awareness : This part carries 80 marks .Hence be thorough with this portion.NO compromise here, this portion alone can sail u through. The two times I qualified for mains,it was solely because of this GA preparation alone. In 2013,I probably scored 69-70 out of 80.The cutoff that time was somewhere around 110 for phase 1,and my gk attempts alone ensured more than 50% of reqd cutoff. For preparing this part, read 000banker111***adddaaa*** monthly HIndu review capsules for the last 6 months, since the approx date of tier 1.And to reinforce ur prep, read the eco&finance CA of 0000Affairs00****clouuud monthly pdfs for 3-4 months before prelims date.It would be best if u can read ***Affairs0000***clouuud whole pdfs, but the page number comes around to be 160-180 pages per month.that may be impossible to cover.Hence my suggestion would be that u cover the eco,fin and business CA parts of each monthly capsule from 000***Clouuuud. Some basic questions of economics may also come in this section, but last year it was wholly Current Affairs based. However ,back in 2013,I remember facing some basic economics Questions as well.Dont worry for the theoritical eco part, just study Ramesh Singh's eco book ,as per syllabus mentioned by RBI.the 10th ed of Ramesh Singh is yet to come, wait for that,or u may start reading from the 9th ed of 2017 as well,if u are completely new to economics.
When u appear for prelims ,start from GA,u will be able to solve 80 questions within 20 minutes.and this will give u a huge boost in confidence as well,to tackle the rest of the sections.
Mains :
1> Eco&Social Issues : Ramesh Singh, this is the one-stop destination for this part .And if u want to reinforce ur prep ,take coaching materials from some of the recent online coachings(sorry I cant name them, and PG is strictly moderating names of coaching institutes ,but u can contact me via DM and email id ). Coaching materials are only to strengthen ur base prep from Ramesh SIngh, since competition is increasing every year. For social issues,u can use the latest edition of Ram Ahuja book,or CNR Rao as well.Infact the last few chapters of Ramesh singh cover social issues like poverty, demography, environment etc.Hence my suggestion is that, keep R Singh as ur base book on this paper.
2>Finance&management-For management ,follow PC Tripathi,PN Reddy,IGNOU notes,or whatever u like.Just read from one book or source, dont spend too much time on this.and buy the latest editions of the books ,because latest editions contain many upgradations that may not be available in older ones. For example,I have an older ed of PC Tripathi from 2013,but i will also buy the latest edition, if any ,by the same author.
Now finance is the tricky part.Prasanna CHandra and Ramesh Singh cover many of the topics of finance. But again, since competition is severe, its better if u back up ur prep with coaching materials(whose names,as usual,I cant share due to moderation.Gone are the days when PG was a harbinger of free speech ) . ANother book for this portion is Indian financial system by Bharati Pathak. And if one or two topics are there which still remain outside the ambit of P Chandra,B pathak or R singh(Economy) ,the internet is there anyway.
3>Essay-preparation of this portion is just like normal essay prep.Back in 2013,I wrote an essay on reforms initiated by Narasimhan committee.Ramesh Singh's book had superb coverage of the same.I dont know what topics they asked in the more recent exams, but I can guess that it will be on recent issues or from basic economic history .
If u think I am missing something,or some rectifications are necessary,do knock me in comments section _/\_
2>EDU--TAP Notes :
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9IIIuOOc9JVaW5Oc3ZVaHdNWEE https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DBScc8QmzbxtczH4JArQMvBgmx6Q37lR https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6otsHB2A5J2dTJWckc2dkI1VGs No need to buy the costly edu****-tap materials, here's the free links to the same . study from the standard books i mentioned in my last post, and fill up the empty spaces with these materials, for example, the topics which are not directly available in textbooks.particularly in finance u will be greatly benefitted. Start ur preps from today ,and none can block ur RBI seat .And never fail to share any good material that u come across on the net.
The third link which I shared, has a management short note, probably from ignou, and eco survey of 2014-15 from GSScore ,which is an IAS coaching portal. No need to read that old eco survey,u can read the latest gist of GSScore for 2018 .And regarding the management material,I havent scanned through it,hence cant comment on its usefulness.but for management, more than 90% of the syllabus will be covered by PC Tripathi&PN Reddy, and there are countless other books as well .Hence dont worry for this part.
P.S-No need to thank me for this, because I got these links from a friend of mine who is not in PG
An update,I got two more material compilations in net.But dont overburden urself with multiple materials for one subtopic. For example, there is one topic Growth&development in Eco&social issues paper.Ramesh Singh covers this adequately.Apart from R singh,u can just glance through edu-tap material for any extra subpoint, but dont read whole of edu-tap,rbigradeb.com,or other book sources for this single subtopic. That will only confuse u.Anyway here are the links to the new material compilations I got : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_HTWaDoMEZKcWVOZXhpZXBvX2s
