I think SM is far better than TA
less work load for SM who work within the station but TA includes multi-skilled supervisior work which include traffic mgt, section controller even signal maintenance. Thats why TA having two years training program which includes one year course on Diploma in Rail Transport & Management and one year for training.
TA working enviornment and responsibility is broader than SM

According to someone who worked as Goods Guard
"I have served as Goods Guard for 6 years.Job is very hard specially for girls.Generally girls dont opt for this.But now a days girls are becoming goods guard.Goods Guard period is very long and depends upon in which Dividion you are working. You cant set any routine in this job.Its a round the clock job.When you sign off you put your arrival in register. Now you are in queue.Controller calls you when your turn comes after considering your 16 hours rest at home/headquarter.Normally girls are adjusted in office/lobby.They dont work on line due to uncertainty of their arrival and departure.Goods guard gets running allowance which is 30% extra of badic pay.Salary is very handsome. "
