Sbi clerk v/s Rrb po Once again as the date of interview is coming near..this question is becoming a big obstacle in interview preparation.. I meet Rrb branch in my hometown..i meet branch manager . he suggested me to join as an officer in Rrb rather than sbi as a clerk.when i was talking to him he was looking quite contentful..fully satisfied..he told me no matter what happens .we shut down our office 0530 at most..and he lives in his hometown..no transfer...bit dealing with rural peoole is a differnt hurdle..now they provide BC for that purpose..they allow only big customer to bank..so work load reduced drasticly...be sugested me to join RRB PO and after completion of probation if you feels that it is not your cup of tea you may apply for scale -2 through ibps open recruitment channel....in rrb after merger home posting may become a golden thing of past..nowadays financial reforms are also taking place in Rrb..so relax. I had conversation with one one old officer who retired from deputy manager sbi. He told me that he started his career as a clerk ...but at that time merger were not there..so we got home posting..and in their time the promotion was very slow...but now it is very fast...as far as work load is concerned he told me that ot is pure luch where you got posting..but nowadays in sbi it is normal to work till 0800-0900 PM..But as far as your finencial needs are concerned .it will fulfill it in a nice way. nowadays if you are sincere it takes 15-17 years yo reach the AGM post from vertical cadre if you clears your exams on time..after becoming AGM .you may relax in one sense..no more customer dealing ..work as a regulator over branches..so it will be a comfortable post...but for that 15-17 years you will have to work hard. then your good time will start....after 2-3 year based on clearing JAIIB and CAIIB you will become TO.. ..and as far as promotion are concerned for scale -2 it is equivalent to PO...in SBI 25% promotion to scale 2 is given to TO and 25% promotion to scake 2 is given to PO..and in sbi there is no direct recruitment to scake 2 .... Based on conversation with senior guys (almost retired ) who had experience of more than 30 years i reached on this conclusion RRB PO after merger homeposting may become a thing of past. Slow promotion. Satisfied life Work pressure is there (Don't know who said no work pressure ) You can not reach management level..till retirement you have to sit in the branch because after scale 5 the sponsor bank officers takes over the management.. nkt so vigourus transfers.. If your spouse also have job then go for it..you may stay near .. SBI heavy work load Aftet some time you will get more money Then Rrb officer.. You will have vast opportunities Ready for vigorous transfers for a comfortavle life you have to toil for 15-17 years until you becomes AGM.. a lot of allownces.. Chances of home posting /home sgyae if your spouse is wotking in that zone..bank union consider that thing.. Targets given in sbi is not so hard and DIFFICUKT AND compulsory as compared to RRB.. SBI has provide a variety of work if you does not like a particular profile...but you must have necessary criteria in Rrb till retirement you have to sit in the branch ..very rare chance to sit in head office.. As far as salary is concerned in RRB they are having a standard deduction of 2000/- no matter you are at which scale. It makes a huge difference...in SBI it is very large..but we may expect reforms in Rrb this year but they are not sure..in RRB there are no allownace only dry salary In sbi there are a lot of allowances which you never heard of.. Choice is yours.. Im my view first join Sbi ja till january with full dedication.in jan 19 Rrb po resukt will come then if you feels work pressure, no satisfaction etc. Then you may think for switch over..by working in sbi for one month you will come yo know..what you wants..

In our clerk letter it is clearly mentioned that you cannot join if you have been a past member of sbi whether at clerk or PO cadre. Does the same clause is with SBI po??
