Gender Equality is the basic foundation on which an imperishable society exists. Women play a very important role in the existence and prosperity of any society. But it's the irony that it prays to the virtual female gods but does not respect the females in real life. Since primordial time Women have been treated as secondary beings. Patriarchal nature of the society has always tried to curb the freedom of women and has imposed draconian rules on them. But still women have showed courage and risen from these chains of male chauvinism and proved their worthiness. Time has changed and women are showing their mettle in all fields may it be sports, politics, astronomy ,competitive exams etc. Society has also become more liberal and has employed pragmatic thinking. But is it enough ? According to the census of 2011 the girl child population is decreasing at an unprecedented rate. Currently it is 918 girls to 1000 boys. Alarming rate of Female feticide is a wake call for the government. Thus to keep these figures in check The Government has launched "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'Abhiyan . Through this abhiyan Government aims to educate villagers and change their thinking of considering girl child as a burden.In rural areas the son child is still considered a boon and a girl as a curse. A literate society is essential to change such sort of a parochial thinking. Nowadays technology is being used wrongly in medical clinics for child sex determination and female feticide .This scheme aims to keep a check on these nefarious activities. Dowry is a big problem in India and it still exists in some parts of the country. Government has taken steps to eradicate this menace from the society and punish the dowry seekers. Government has launched "Sukanya Samridhi Yojna"scheme in which family can earn interest of 9.2%pa on savings for the education and marriage of the girl. From Rani Laxmi Bai to Malala ,women have fought for their equality in the society. Women have proved that they can be good housewives as well as successful CEO's . With proper government system and initiatives women can get the right which they deserve. This will bring a much needed balance In the society.

Subject-Concern on the recent stabbing of a girl in Delhi
Sir,
Through your esteem newspaper I want to highlight the grave issue of increasing crimes against Women in Delhi,exclusively the recent stabbing of a girl in Anand Prabhat Area.We feel proud on girls achieving top slots in U.P.S.C.,winning Wimbledon Grand slam,on the other hand these kind of incidents occur in which an innocent girl is murdered by two insane persons,that too in day light,and this was due to a lodge complaint by her against the culprits for eve teasing two years back .
Equally responsible were the police who if had taken girl's complaint seriously ,this incident would not have happened.After the heinous Nirbhaya case, dozen of schemes were started to provide safe environment to girls,but until the system and society consider eve teasing and other related crimes 'small',these horrendous crimes will never end and thsoe schemes will merely end as 'schemes' only
