a man rows to a place 48 km distant and back in 14 hours.he finds that he can row 4 km with the stream in the same time as 3km against the stream.what will be the rate of the stream?
my process: x>>upstream ,y>>downstream
x * 3 = y* 4
x = 4/3 y---1
48(1/x + 1/ y) = 14
x+y=7/24 xy-----2
putting the value of x from 1 in 2
x=8 y=6
tho i should have got x=6 and y=8.
