Question on finding the average speed....

Shortcut method from Arun Sharma's book:

Let the ratio of the speeds be r1:r2. Then divide the difference of speeds by (r1+r2) to get one part. The required answer will be (r1) parts away, i.e., if speeds are 20 and 40, then ratio = 1:2, dividing the difference (40-20) by (1+2) = 20/3 = 6.66, required average = 20 + (1 * 6.66) = 26.66.

Bankersadda's Method:

According to this, let the speeds be a, b, c kmph, then average = 3abc/(ab+bc+ca).

A Problem from Arun Sharma's book:

A person covers half his journey by train at 60 kmph, the remainder half by bus at 30 kmph and the rest by cycle at 10 kmph. Find his average speed during the entire journey.

Method 1 gives answer as 24 kmph, while method gives 20 kmph. Which method is correct, where am I going wrong? Someone please throw some light on this.
