Cards can be classified on the basis of their issuance, usage and payment by the card holder. There are three types of cards (a) debit cards (b) credit cards and (c) prepaid cards.

Prepaid cards are issued by the banks / non-banks against the value paid in advance by the cardholder and stored in such cards which can be issued as smart cards or chip cards, magnetic stripe cards, internet accounts, internet wallets, mobile accounts, mobile wallets, paper vouchers, etc.

The usage of prepaid cards depends on who has issued these cards. The prepaid cards issued by the banks can be used to withdraw cash from an ATM, purchase of goods and services at Point of Sale (POS)/E-commerce (online purchase) and for domestic fund transfer from one person to another. Such prepaid cards are known as open system prepaid cards. However, the prepaid cards issued by authorised non-bank entities can be used only for purchase of goods and services at Point of Sale (POS)/E-commerce (online purchase) and for domestic fund transfer from one person to another. Such prepaid cards are known as semi-closed system prepaid cards. These cards can be used only domestically.

The maximum value that can be stored in any prepaid card (issued by banks and authorised non-bank entities) at any point of time is Rs 50,000/-

GST: Will Indian companies & consumers benefit from it?

India is set to witness one of the most crucial reforms in its indirect taxation system with the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1, 2017. The talks and discussions for introducing GST started in late 1990s, and have finally taken a formal shape. GST is a type of Value Added Tax and aims to simplify the taxation for manufacturers and traders across the country. Its benefits are likely to be seen and felt by companies and consumers alike.

Till now, we have had the system of multiple taxation being imposed by the central and state governments. It had led to several problems such as:

1. Non-uniformity of taxes in different states

2. Cascading effect of taxes resulting in higher cost of goods

3. Confusion and complexities in calculating exact tax liabilities, especially in the case of inter-state taxes

With the introduction of GST, all these issues will effectively be taken care of. For companies, this is likely to result in lower tax burden and better clarity about tax liabilities. It will also make it easier for companies to conduct business in India, thus promoting entrepreneurship. The consumers are also likely to benefit from it as the benefit of lower tax liability is expected to be passed onto the consumers. The government is also likely to reap huge long term benefits with a gradual broadening of tax base.

The soul of GST is "One Nation, One Tax". Although, we have not been able to incorporate this fully into the current GST act, we have still made a crucial start in the direction of simplifying indirect tax in India.

Dear Sir,

Subject: Request for an extension of the EMI for current month

This is to request you for the extension of the EMI of my education loan for the current month. I had taken my education loan from your bank 30 months back and have been regularly paying the monthly EMI for the same. However, I am unable to make the payment for the same this month, as the money that I had kept for the payment had to be used for treatment of my father who was recently hospitalised.

I maintain a salary account with your bank and have been your loyal customer since the past two and half years. My track record of previous EMI payments has been regular, with my CIBIL score mirroring the same. I humbly request you to grant me an extension of two months for making the due payment. I promise to pay the EMI of Rs. 10,000 per month for May and June along with the EMI for July. The requisite details are:

Name : Mr. ABC DEF

Salary Account No.: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Loan Acount No: YYYYYYYYYYYYYY

PAN Card: ZZZZZZZZZZ

Yours Sincerely,

ABC DEF

Anyone please share bsc match points of june edition !! Tia
