I don't get the point of what the problem of Kashmir actually is.
What history tells me is that in the august of 1947, the British left the subcontinent & they separated Pakistan (both east & west), Myanmar & the portion of India that we know of as now divided into some 500 different princely states (similar to what they acquired when the east India co. left & the british empire came). Now most of these different states joined hands instantly to form India as INC was influential in all leaving aside some such as Hyderabad, Kashmir, Sikkim etc.
In October 1947 Pakistan attacked Kashmir & the king of Kashmir sought to join India so as to save his people from the barbaric paki army. The part we know as POK was gone by the time the Indian army reached & stopped their progress.
Now the constitution of India is framed in such a way that any state can join it, but once joined, they can never leave it (unlike the USA where a state can decide to join it & leave it & form a separate country whenever it wants).
So my question is, when back in 1947 the king of Kashmir sought it better to join India, then why does now the kashmiris want to leave India & probably join Pakistan (though it is not possible)? What changed in between?
PS - India will never leave Kashmir so why can't the civilians make peace like the rest of India? This uprising/ revolution will do nothing but destroy their lives, their homes, their futures cause the army will do everything to stop this no matter if they have to kill each & every civilian living there which obviously will be a disaster. If the civilians make peace & stop promoting terrorism (preferably diminish terrorism) then the military will also make peace eventually.
