How to prepare the Descriptive part?
In the very beginning, I'd like to tell that this is the last section you need to be worried about. This section is a cakewalk, for anyone who knows how to make even simple sentences. And, I believe, any graduate can make simple sentences.
Now, people are worried about the topics. But the reality is, that that topics are very generic in nature. If you look at the last three years of Descriptive history, you'll find topics like -
2014: (Multiple shifts)
1. Women entrepreneurs in India.
2. Importance of investment.
3. Entrance exam - An evil.
4. My motherland.
5. Dowry deaths.
etc.
2015:
6. India's dependence on Monsoon.
7. E-commerce
8. One rank, One pension
2016:
9. Effects of games like Pokémon Go.
10. Importance of History of nation.
11. Positive effects of hike in salary of an employee on the Economy.
As you can see, each one of these topics are very general in nature and anyone can write 250-300 words on them.
Similarly, the topics of the letter are also very general.
Few things that have to be kept in mind-
A. Know the formats of formal and informal letter. That's the most important thing about letter writing.
B. Try to keep the essay in three paragraphs, and upto four. Introduction, main content and conclusion, that should be your approach.
C. Use simple words that are easy to comprehend. In a nutshell, your writing should be such that even a 4th standard kid can understand it.
D. Word limit is also something that bothers a lot of people, which is very normal, considering that in our schooldays we were asked to strictly adhere to it. However, it doesn't matter if you make it 330 or 340 instead of 300. But, you should try to contain it there. But, one thing is important, try to at least keep up to the limit, yes, if you're short by some 5-10 words, it won't matter, but anything below it can lead to deduction of marks.
This brings us to from where to prepare-
There is nothing as such preparing about it. Just keep on reading newspaper and articles. Choose any topic of your choice and practice it at least twice a week. This will also improve your typing speed, because ultimately, you've to type about 450-500 words in 30 minutes.
All the best!
