In the interview call letter the catagory mentioned is the catagory we belong to or catagory we qualified
Hey! Perplexity has pervaded after cutoff discussions have started. So how about some clarity? 1. Last year the last general candidate to have qualified had obtained 58.93. Therefore the discussion has to be what could potentially be the least possible qualifying mark rather than superior performances of top 100 or 200! 2.Moreover cutoff for general has been low a couple of years ago when the paper was tough(no way near this years catastrophe). So the general perception that cutoff just cannot come down is a fallacy! Considering these two common misperceptions expect the unexpected! Cheers
Interview Experience - SBI PO - OBC, Exsm (only for age, no reservation) Date n time - 06 Sep 16 0800 Panel 2 (sorry for late upload) Staff College Hyderabad. Full experience no short cuts. Helpful for first timers bt boring for veterans. Reached at 0730. To my surprise half the candidates have already got their documents verified. They started at 0700 first cum first basis verificaion. There are 2 panels in every batch (0800, 1030, 1230) Panel 1 had 11 candidates, panel 2 had 10 candidates. No absentees on 06 Sep. All were present in all batches. Doc verification went smooth. They were only serious about caste cert. In some cased they have taken undertaking and asked for fathers OBC cert as well to be submitted to the centre by hand within a week. CC, identity were petty for them. they were concerned with stamp and seal, no concern for who the signatory was. It was my 1st GD. For GD we were lined up in front of a hall at 0900. 10 chairs with standing number plates in front of them on floor arranged in semicircle. 2 assessors sat at the centre point of the circle at 10 ft distance. Sir had asked to pick a pencil and notepad from the table and instructed us about GD asked not to deviate from topic and other bla bla bla. Topic was given by other sir from sealed envelope. It is same for all over india 0800 GD batches. EDUCATION INSTITUTES HAVE BECOME SELLING SHOPS?? They gave us 5 min precisely to jolt down our thoughts. And then asked to start discussion. No 1 started with I take the opportunity to start the discussion and said some points and i picked from him after a minute. Discussion was healthy no agressive confrontations by any. No 5 and 10 were anxious and not speaking, we even signalled them to speak at 12 min. but they didn't. Finally assessor asked 5 and 10 to speak at 16 min. Every1 gave them proper opportunity to speak but still they could only spk for 2 min and then we started. After 20 min in stop watch, we were asked to stop. Sir appreciated the cordial gestures and harmony among candidates and healthy discussion. Then he distributed a priority sheet to all. Topic was QUALITIES AN EMPLOYER LOOKS FOR IN A NEW RECRUIT. 9 traits viz creativity, multitasking etc were listed. we were given 5 min to think and start discussion. With cooperation we reached convergance at 18 min. It also went well. Midway, a girl iterated all the priorities converged till then to the candidates. Try doing that it impresses the assessor. GD was over by 1030, all the candidates were friendly. It really helped. Have a word with everyone before u enter GD hall. It will make things sail smoothly. After GD, we were asked to sit in a hall for PI. My numb was 9. Avg time was 12 min. my turn came at 1240. Went in after knocking the door, wished madam first and then chairman and other sirs. 4M, 1F. They were on couch. I was asked to sit on a wheel chair in front of them. Chairman started with 'Mr naresh tell us something about yourself'. I told. when they knew i was working in Navy they all started asking about Navy. All the questoins were on that only. Last question by M4 was 'How will your MBA in retail mgmt will help the bank. and what is retail and wholesale banking. I replied. Then they said Thank you. I was out in 12 min. overall GDPI went well. Panelist were cool. They were chilled infact. speaking jovially, cheerfully never intimidated anyone. So for all those like i was, afraid of GD, dont worry at all. It is full of fun. Note down your points well and some facts if you know. You will do well. Then on 7th I went JLL India for an interview result was positive. When I came out and gone throug PG, found that LIC AAO results are out. Checked and IN. Great week for me. 5 mins for self-reflection and 20 mins for discussion.
Topic : population growth: boon or bane?part 2: priorities setting.. Qualities of second-in-command assisting commandant. No consensus reached.
Tip : don't be adumant and try to be accommodative to other's views also. They are testing more of your ability to work with team,your adaptability than your knowledge (as knowledge and intelligence was already tested in first 2 phases)
Then interview.. General questions regarding reasons for leaving previous job, why banking sector, how bank facilitate in economic growth, CAD , BoP, criterion for special states , private sector banks and their CEOs etc.
Tip: if you are appearing in morning session please have heavy breakfast. Because they provide you snacks only after you finish interview which may be 12 if you are 5-6th in group. And you don't even have your bags with you to eat biscuits or snacks that you have bought.

gd was messy...everyone speaks though..but it was really a fish market.. and prioritization was too..no consensus...what marks can be expected? any idea?

Document verirfication went smooth. Staff conducting is very helpful. No worries just have all documents needed.
Then our lunch coupon were given n they rtold us to return in 1/2 hour.
After that it was GD TIME!!!
2 Personel were conducting Gd. They explained us rules n everything. Its group discussion not debate, so have healthy discussion n try to reach consensus n most importantly contribute. Language Eglish or Hindi(unless someone objects)

We didnt reach consensus but it was good discussion
GD Topic phase II : Sustainble devlopent of human civilizaition
8 aspects given n 5 minutes to prioritise
After that discussion went on without reaching consensus we ran out of time again!!
In GD it is desirable to reach consensus but its not always possible
