other than solving mocks..can anybody please advice as to how useful is solving previous year cat papers?(from 1990 to 2008)

I might be off topic a bit...but i need some serious advice here!!!I quit my company in october 2011(2 years work exp) to prepare for mah mba cet but somehow couldnt crack it to make into top 3 colleges under cet,so I am planning to prepare for cat 2012 seriously.
I am thinking of taking up a job again,but the job market right now is quite grim,so is it advisable to continue preparing for cat and other exams with a year gap of what may be arnd 1.5 years withour work exp by the time I join any b school!!???I will do cfa certification in the mean time which will boost my profile.....but i really need some serious guidance on how to proceed...any suggestions are welcome 😃

For Quantitative aptitude preparation, buy Quantum Cat by Sarvesh K verma if you want to start from the very basics.If your basics are clear and want to practice high quality questions, then buy Quantitative aptitude for cat by Arun Sharma.
For VA,Buy Verbal Ability for cat by Sujit Kumar. Also read a good English news paper in detail everyday.Also read books on topics that interest you.Developing a reading habit is very important if you want to crack the verbal section of cat.For vocabulary improvement, buy "Word Power made easy" by Norman Lewis.Also download dictionary software in your mobile so that whenever you come across any new word during reading,quickly check its meaning.For Grammer,buy 'English usage for cat' by Sujit Kumar.For RC,arrange for TIME's RC book.
CL's DI is good enough i guess,me too giving without any classes,,

@[319412:niveditadaga] Yes test series is necessary to know where you stand and areas of improvement. You can take test series of C.L or Test Funda separately. Those will include online tests with other aspirants. You can also buy test series by arun sharma book.

Guys I am working very hard but my mocks marks are not increasing....desperately need to crack CAT this year....i am stuck and need to understand that what extra one should do to increase the percentile....sometimes I see questions in mocks and think that i can do it buut get stuck in it and spent too much time on it and still don't get the answer...and also accuracy level is very bad...i mean very very bad....please help
