IMO only option 1 should be COrrect as it has got "that" which refers to " the climate" and comparision is b/w climate of goa and pune and thus reference should be for climate.

2-> option b..(read the sentence a and b carefully.One can observe that Option B is appropriate as it is 'indian cricket team's winning the match' that excited the fans and not 'indian cricket team' that excited the fans as referred in option a... just ask the question What excited the fans?? and one can see the difference b/w option a and option b)

I think it should be was because collective nouns indicating time, money and measurements used as a whole are singular and take singular verb.

generally, affect is only used as a verb, whereas effect is commonly used as a noun and only in formal contexts as a verb. Wat causes confusion is tht dey have vry similar pronunciations and closely related meanings. If one thing affects [acts upon] another, it has an effect on it [causes it to change]. Notice also that you can affect [cause a change in] people as well as things, but you can only effect [bring about] things such as changes: The election has affected our entire society, for it has effected major changes in the government.The bad weather has a bad effect [not affect] on him..

In Simple Hindi -

Affect = Asar daalna / Asar karna [kisi cheez par]
Effect = Asar [us cheez me jo change aaya hai vo, Asar]

The cricket match was broadcasted live.. Soln key says this sentence is wrong.. The correct is telecasted/aired.. plz explain why broadcast is a wrong usage here, given ive heard a lot of times people using the word broadcast for the same..
