HI could anyone tell me whether it is GD or Group task for SIBM Bangalore....
It is supposed to be a Group Exercise. That said, it could either be an Discussion or a Task.

@pc7691 Depends upon the interviewer! So make sure you at least know the basics of what you have studied and know the terms. The question can be as simple as what is Median and standard deviation (was asked to one of the students).

Again it depends upon the interviewer, sometimes he may ask only questions about your self and they some time may grill you on academics. Just a word of advice: of you do not know any answer move on and don not loose the confidence. You are not supposed to know everything.
I love the way Prince has worded the above post. Bang on target!

Had my GDPI 2day... Thanx all seniors 😃 You guys were very helpful n encouraging...
Unfrtunately my group was not that good... Discussion was very vague n boring :/ PI was ok.. I don't have much hopes

@pc7691 You never know what kind of impression you have left in the mind of the interviewers. Just keep your hopes high and chillax till the results are out.

GE/PI Chronicles: Pune (2nd Feb - 5th Feb)

Life came one full circle..again.. Last year, when I ran around the corridors of SIFIL(ELTIS) for the admissions process, I felt nostalgic...

This year, a similar feeling, though with a touch of sadness, engulfed me during these 4 days at SCMS Pune. Nostalgia beckoned undoubtedly, but the thought that I was doing it for the last time as well as the fact that my MBA days are almost over- made me sad and made me realize that the past 2 years have been the best two years of my life.. Anyways, wont bore you with the emotional drama here... Over to the experience...

We saw about 360+ charged up, bright individuals with dreamy eyes and sweaty palms going through the process at Pune. Although the 4 day stint of running around various floors was a huge task in itself- it became easy with each aspirant's smile after the process. The happiness was infectious.

Rest of the guys appearing at Noida and Bangalore, few pointers from my side:

1. Reach the center on time, double check on all the documents - originals, attested copies etc.
2. Write your SNAP id on the back of your photographs and bring them with you.
3. Relax and ask as many questions about the college, placements, faculty, life during the presentation before your GE/PI- it just might give you ideas on the obvious question of Why SIBM B or Why MBA? !
4. Prepare well on basic questions like "Tell me about yourself" , "Why MBA without experience", "Why not continue your job and switch to MBA?" etc etc.
5. It always helps to answer in bullet points - both in GD as well as in the interview- people will listen you through when you mention you have X points to say on a particular thing- and projects the fact that you are structured in your thinking.
6. SOPs are not to be taken lightly- do not write something outrageous nor anything very cliched. Its about you and every individual is different- so write with a very natural, original perspective and it will help. Bullet points would help here as well...
7. You cannot prepare for an extempore - but remember, they just wanna check how quickly you can think and what is the breadth and length of your thinking scope- a very abstract topic like " Smoke" can have different interpretations- pollution, cigarette, uncertainty etc etc.. Always make a point to either speak on more than one interpretations of such topics AND/OR quote some real life examples to solidify the fact that you have understood the topic.
8. Do not try to go off topic in the GD/PI just because you know a lot about something- If there is a topic on inflation, do not go at length about FDI (since your coaching institute made you read about it) or China or the European Crisis! Also, some folks did not understand simple terms like "feminism" - its not always difficult/tricky there. But then I guess, understanding simple topics is difficult as well in those few minutes.
9. Read as much about the college as you can- it helps if you know the institute that you are aspiring to join. Website, social media, alumni, current students are all good source of knowing about the (any) college.
10. Dont worry much about acads (past) cause that's not gonna change now. Neither dwell too much on the fact that you may not have got a great SNAP percentile. Focus on the GE/PI and you may very well sail through.

At last, wherever you end up- be humble, grounded and confident. Difficult, but definitely not impossible.

All the best!
Sinha

@nikhilbrad

@nikhilbrad,@kshitijsharma :i gave best of 5 as my marks in XIIth standard.I am from West Bengal board. In our board there is no rule for calculating the total marks..Will that be a problem?
