Sorry to burst your bubble Puneet. But SPJ does take freshers. Im a fresher and im in SPJ. My essays werent that great either. Its a cumulative score that will get you in here, not just one factor such as work-ex, essays or CAT percentile.

What wud u do if u see something shabbily written...think for urself wud u even consider such forms if they had come to you, then why wud someone else also consider. No intention of hurting u or something....but than if u think with a shabby form u can get a call than its ur luck otherwise take it as a learning that u r going for b-school and shabbiness is the last thing a manger need to show....
Someone got in with a shabby form doesnot mean that all with get thru....every year persons reading the form are different remember this....You should have taken lot of care while filling the form specially when they say that ESSAYS are an important criteria to short list students......
Sorry didnot see that u already have a call....so my comment is for those who know they have written the form in real bad way...read shabbily....

Last time around, my friend got a call from SPJ .. Acads - excellent ( C.A.) CAT pc - decent ( higher 80's) W-ex-decent ( 2+) Essays - sorry ( poor grammar, spelling mistakes ) He couldnt convert SPJ.
This time, he scored better in CAT.
His essays were the same as the previous year, with minor correction w.r.t. the content, but grammar n construction was definitely better.
No call from SPJ .
their criteria is ( like major B-Schools) confidential ( and NOT flawless ) Wish they ( all major B-Schools ) come up with a transparent admission procedure ( mayb like the way M-CET - JBIMS) so tat even those who are unfortunate to get into the top-notch know the reasons why !!

On the lighter side of it, when does the "evening" mean for SPJ guys ? i mean evening in Kolkatta is somewhere around 5 pm,. and in mumbai the night starts at 11pm onwards 😉
With most of the guys missing out on SPJ's first call, the wait is getting anxious and painful..
