Guys I talked to my friend(actually friend's friend) who is ITI. He told me that Excise inspector has more powers as compared to ITI and ITI starts getting power when he becomes ITO(Income tax officer). Further before 1980s excise used to be filled before income tax and in 1980s when cadre was trifurcated it was only after that Excise inspectors & PO stagnated and Examiners started getting very fast promotions.
After this I searched on the internet and this is what I found:
As per rule 22(1) of Central Excise Rules, an officer empowered by
Commissioner shall have access to any premises(read factory) registered under CE Rules
for purpose of carrying out any scrutiny, verification and checks as
may be necessary to safeguard the interest of revenue. All officers in
the rank of Inspector and above are authorized for this purpose. Powers of excise inspector:
1) Search: An officer not below the rank of Inspector of Central Excise, duly authorized can search at any time, any premises(factory) where the officer authorizing search has reason to believe that excisable goods are manufactured or stored in contravention of the provisions of the Act or Rules or where he has reason to believe that the evidence pertaining to manufacturing and removal of such goods is available. The Search warrant is issued by an officer not below the rank of the Assistant Commissioner.
2 )Seizure: Whenever after the search of the premises or a conveyance, a proper officer of Central Excise, i.e. an officer not below the rank of Inspector forms a reasonable belief that the goods liable to confiscation or the documentary evidence pertaining to evasion of Central Excise duty is available in the premises or conveyance searched, he can seize the goods as well as the documents under section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962 as made applicable to the like matters of Central Excise.
3) Summons: Under section 14 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, Superintendent or any officer senior to him, can issue summons to any person requiring him to give evidence or to produce any record etc
4)Arrest: Any officer not inferior in rank to an inspector is authorized to arrest any person whom he reasonably believe to be liable to punishment under the Central Excise Act, 1944.
5)Offences: In the absence of any express definition of the term Offence in the Central Excise law, any violation of the provisions of the law would be construed as an offence.
I am not saying that ITI is better than excise; you should always fill ITI above excise.
I am saying that Excise also rocks.
So for people like me who have scored around 440-450 in UR category excise is a good option. Not to forget that we can get posting near to our home. Also officers receive gifts from companies like Maruti etc. even if nothing is illegal so that they do not create unnecessary problems.

Guys, my college awards only CGPA and not percentage marks. It is mentioned on my Consolidated Mark Sheet that "CGPA has no equivalence with percentage marks".
