Goods and Services Tax is a comprehensive multi-stage destination bases tax that is levied on evrry value addition. GST is an indirect tax levied when a consumer buys a good or service. The 122nd amendment Bill of the Constitution of India, introduced a National GST in India from 1st July,2017. India's tax scenario is currently riddled with various indirect taxes which the GST aims to subsume with a single pan India comprehensive tax,by bringing all such taxes under a single umbrella. There would be three types of levies in GST,1) CGST 2) IGST 3) SGST /UGST . There are different tax slabs for different items and basic items like products vegetables ,milk,fruits etc are excluded from purview of GST. The impact of GST on macroeconomic parameters is likely to be positive in the medium-term. Inflation would be reduced as the cascading effect of taxes would be eliminated. The revenue from the taxes for government is likely to increase with extended tax net and fiscal deficit is expected to remain under checks. Exports would grow and FDI flow would increase. GST would also be helpful in ease of doing business. GST has all the ingredients of a modern, seamless taxation system. But its success will depend on stakeholders and the way government will implement. GST will contribute towards a robust macroeconomics thereby increasing investor sentiments. Finally, the consumer will be ultimate beneficiary as it would eliminate the cascading effect of taxes.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna : The Primary needs of human being are food, shelter and clothes.Having a roof on head ensures sense of security.To ensure the same Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna on 25th June, 2015 to provide housing for all by 2022. The Government envisages building affordable pucca houses with water facility, sanitation and electricity supply. The scheme is intends to cover economically weaker sections (EWS) ,Lower Income Groups ( LIG) and Mid income Groups ( MIG) . It comprises of four key aspects. One, it aims to transform slum areas by building homes for slum dwellers in collaboration with private developers. Two , it plans to give credit-linked subsidiy to mid income sections on loans taken for new construction or renovation. Third, government will chip in with assistance for projects done in partnership with states for the EWS and LIG. Four, it will extend direct finance assistance of 1.5 lakh rupees to EWS. It is very welcome intitative by the government to uplift the living standards of lower strata of the society and good attempt to root out social disparity which will eventually will pave the way for prosperous India.
