वो भारत की अनपढ़ पीढ़ी जो हम सबको बहुत डाँटती थी - कहते थे ; “नल धीरे खोलो... पानी बदला लेता है! अन्न नाली में न जाए, नाली का कीड़ा बनोगे! किसी सयाने पेड़ को मत काटो !! सुबह-सुबह तुलसी पर जल चढाओ, बरगद पूजो, पीपल पूजो, कुंवा पूजो, पहाड़ पूजो , मुंडेर पर चिड़िया के लिए पानी रखा कि नहीं? हरी सब्जी के छिलके गाय के लिए अलग बाल्टी में डालो। अरे कांच टूट गया है। उसे अलग रखना। कूड़े की बाल्टी में न डालना, कोई जानवर मुँह न मार दे। .. ये हरे छिलके कूड़े में किसने डाले, कही भी जगह नहीं मिलेगी........ यह पीढ़ी इतनी पढ़ी-लिखी नहीं थी पर पर्यावरण की चिंता करती थी, क्योंकि वह शास्त्रों की श्रुति परंपरा का पालन करती थी । और हम चार किताबें पढ़ कर उस पीढ़ी की आस्थाओं को कुचलते हुये धरती को विनाश की कगार पर ले आये। और हम "आधुनिक" तथा शिक्षित हो गये !!!
