Regards
Abhijeet Srivastava

Do a little bit of introspection and you'll come up with the answer Buddy..

My take...if I was doing to get a leverage on salary I wouldn't have joined
if my goal is to get sound knowledge, learn, grow as a person with ethics I definitely would have joined TAPMI..as it is known for its knowledge base, innovative teachings methods, ethics, DISCIPLINE and RIGOUR

Hope this post helps 😃

I think you should go for the IIMs. Personal opinion.

well they have written that we have to pay 3,10,000 by 20 may.... so we'll have to do that if we want admission.. and yes, is this fees justified??
After all, if we calculate the total fees + electricity + laptop(which we are sure to buy) will all sum upto about a whopping Rs. 12 lacs!!

My personal opinion:

The grand total should have been within 10L.
Puys...

I was told by the director during the Director Interview that TAPMI is increasing the total fees for the programme to Rs 8.25 Lacs.
But I am not sure if this fees is justified and what kind of return we are looking for from TAPMI considering the fact that they would have 3 times the number of students to place.

Lets hope students get value for money.

You forgot food and travelling expenditure from TAPMI, remember that its not a city in Itself. Travelling expenses for national level competitions will be higher from tapmi then from other places. And if students from tapmi don't participate in such events because of money then it hugely harms the college in terms of placements later. These are all correlational things
I am a little confused reading the whole letter.... Anyway..more details..

All students need to pay a refundable caution deposit of Rs.15,000 in 1st instalment..

ACADEMIC FEE :
INSTALMENT NO. AMOUNT DUE(Rs.) DUEDATE
1 , 2,37,000 , 20 MAY 2010
2 , 1,88,000 , NOV,2010
3 , 2,12,000 , JUN,2011
4 , 1,88,000 , NOV,2011

Total : Rs.8,25,000.
Text books and other resources EXCLUDING LAPTOP would be provided at no extra cost.

Hostel fees approx Rs.73,000 (non-AC) Rs. 85,000 (AC) per year. Plus Rs.2400 (approx) per month for mess.

PLEASE NOTE : ALL FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE....

Add 73,000 hostel fee to 2,37,000. That gives 3,10,000. hope that clears the confusion!!

Bhaiya, I would request you to kindly gather some more TAPMI puys to keep up with the doubts that students come up with. It will help the candidates a lot. and there will be less rumours.

Also, Could you please explain the aspirants the electricity costs? Was this thing applicable for your batch as well?

and The IB course details, if you may.

I think the electricity charges thing is new. It has both merits and demerits:

Merit:

1. Students will not waste electricity.

Demerit:

1. If few students waste electricitry / use more the whole hostel has to share the price which is unfair.
2. This charge at this point cannot be quantified which doesn't help students/ parents to budget.
3. Banks provide loan for Hostel fees, will they provide loan for electricity charges? If yes, How much?
As per the post, Total Fees boils down to

2,37,000 , 20 MAY 2010
1,88,000 , NOV,2010
2,12,000 , JUN,2011
1,88,000 , NOV,2011

Total : ..........Rs.8,25,000.
Hostel Fees:.....Rs. 73,000.
Mess:..............Rs. 57,600. (2400x24months)

Gross Total: Rs. 9,55,600
...............................................................

Additional Expense:
Laptop :40,000
Personal Expense: 24,000 (Considering Rs. 1,000 a month)

.............................................................

So, Net Cost Studying at TAPMI: Rs. 10,19,600

What do you all thing about my analysis. Education in India is becoming costly day by day; getting out of reach for many students.

You considered Hostel fees for only 1 year...so add another Rs. 73,000 to the amount.

Thats a whopping amount even if we are conservative I think it would be around 11 lakks:drinking::drinking:, and loans in this country are not cheap ..MBA has become real costly..this is the case with most institutes..they are increasing the fees ..everywhere...donno if the ROI would improve..if one gets placed at 7-7.5 lks which is the median right now ...then we need to think abt it...

The truth is mba costs throught India has increased including at the IIMs and IMT etc. TAPMI followed them as well. Can't really blame them but, hope the money is put to good use.

BTW, The fee structure and other Monetary policies suggest that TAPMI won't be governed by AICTE anymore. (This is pure speculation on my part-please do your own judgement).
Although I won't worry about that too much really (as long as the aacsb, nba, other international ratings can be earned) but some people might.

15 lakhs for 2 years of education.

When I compare this to a foreign MBA, I think the foreign MBA especially in the likes of NUS etc become more and more enticing.

We would soon need a "MBA Regulatory authority of India"

Prices increasing..its coz of chain/ripple effect...All institutes are increasing fees, more institutes are opening, existing are scaling...and its us who want to do MBA...if u can't pay someone else can..so understand...

Also in Pune alone there are 120+ B-Schools..so you can estimate how many MBA graduate 4m Pune alone..and wht will be the state of MBA degree after 5 yrs...another ironical story jst lik B.E.

Mr.Kapil Sibhal wants more institutes to come up..but he doesn't understand that the credibility of institutes like IIM,IIT's goes to dust..also its quality affordable education and not commercial education

If this continues India someday will surely face the music!!!

We all have calculated the total expenses to be around 11 Lacs for 2 yrs of Education.
We know that many of us are working as well. Say the average salary they have is ard 4Lacs which they wont be earning once they take admission. So the total expenditure they make for the education is close to Rs 19 Lacs on an average.

And frankly, some 90 percent of the students dont have there family income above 10Lacs a year. So, the figures fear me sometimes

But, for TAPMI, they need this money to attract quality faculty for their campus is far from any good city. They need to give its faculty a reason to stay in a place like manipal. But i personally feel that fees should not have been increased when you are increasing your itake to 360 from 120.

its serious money people.

Exactly! But then AICTE rules says, Students Increase means proportional Increase in Professors and Facilities.

There is nothing wrong with new institutes coming up but the quality of the education should be strictly maintained.

Moreover the fees charged should be normalized.

P.S. this thread is for Tapmi 2010-12 batch and not for discussing "State and cost of MBA education in India"

But puys when talking about ROI imagine we getting placed at 8 lks in a consulting firm or a marketing firm at TAPMI ..after 2 years how much can we grow..can we shift companies within 1.5 yrs of joining a company to another company with a hike of 30-40% , only then I think it will do justice to our long term goals.. or else people who rely on loans need to slog for all their lives to pay the loan.

And wanna know in which sector the growth is highest..I know it all depends on us..but there should be a general inference from past experiences ..I had a dream of getting into my chosen field..but now seems like I will have to give up such things and look out for fields that offer more bucks ...not only with TAPMI but any college that I get into finally.

Also i tried to search for queries but now this thread has became such a mess (sorry to say that), i couldn't search anything.

So Mr DEVILISHANGEL, if you cud collate all queries and put in single post, may be it will help all of us....

And all those ppl who have converted TAPMI, requested to join Facebook Group / Orkut Community( Check page 1 for links). You will have lot of seniors answering your queries and it'll help you to make up mind!!!

Go for what you want otherwise you will perish in today's mba markets. Trust Me.

About change of job 😁 On average you will change 3 jobs in 2 years across any top B-School including tapmi and iims.

If you want prove then i can show you too. I did my research well

Actually it's not 19L considering you will get increments and also that your salary may considerably increase if you switch jobs.

And above all after graduating from any college a Job is not guaranteed so people with work ex should seriously consider this.

It makes no sense to charge more interest for educational loan compared to auto loans. These things fuel the net cost of MBA.
