now tht XIMB has given out calls we(the call getters) would get set for GD/PI preparation. Apart from the basics, it would be great if u could tell us about ur GD/PI experiences..i tried to locate a thread of XIMB gd/pi experiences but cudnt find.. also any specific points we should take care of...and weather they r looking for any particular trait in a candidate...
it would be great if u cud give us some gyaan on this...

Maybe we should understand the purpose of a thread and set our expectations realistically.How and why will a busy b-school student help u with your lost card? they are students doing a fav by taking some precious time out to help u by answering ur queries.Not to do backroom service for your petty inconviniences.

There are a lot of queries about XIMb, and so I decided to put this up here.....
Here is the Official FAQs from the admin sources directly. This is from the horses mouth... As authentic as it gets.... Some of it might be slightly different from what we have mentioned in this forum, but then you have to admit that even we students dont know much about the Admission Process.....
1. Admission Process
How can one procure the application form for the various programs offered by your institute? What are the application submission deadlines?
And how many eventually make it off?
That varies from year to year.
Ultimately, what is it that separates accepted applicants from the wait listed and denied folks?
Its the selection process in totality. From the applicants, 3-4% of students manage to get to the GD and Interview session stage. Then, out of them another 10 -15% manage to get selected for admission. Thus, it is hard work, sincerity, commitment, mental attitude, self-confidence and the Grace of God that makes the difference between accepted applicant and those waitlisted or denied.
This means ratio of no. admissions to no. GD/PI calls is 1-1.5 : 10

I would again like to clarify that there are not ONLY 44 Seats in XIMB for students outside Orissa.....
Please read the details about the Reservation poilicies of XIMB in a previous post on this thread.
As far as the number of calls , it is around 500.. the numbers keep varying from year to year.

Can u guess no. of GD/PI calls this year? As no. applications are increasing each year I think it should be much more than 500.
just in case the processes for XIMB and GIM clash...is there anyway to reschedule the XIMB one? haven't received my call letter from XIMB yet but am worried...

actually a gud question........had not been comin to PG for a week.....well....dont worry...will try to answer ur query sometime today durng the afternoon.....
One thing i wud mention to say is that......XIMB is among the best in India........
Doing comparison with MDI, IIFT, SPJIMR, IMT, SCMHRD and SIBM......is useless.....
There is very little difference between all these instis and all these will lie somewhere around at par...with each having something special about it.......
For MDI i must admit.....their Director is doing a great job...he is the best B School director to head any place......and MDI is bound to go places right now.......with him around.......
About IMT......every one knows.....Industry and Commerce Minister.....but I think right now concentration more is on developing Nagpur Campus.....ich they want to debvelop as their major campus.....
for each institute try to find out wats so special about it.......and den try to match ur profile with it and den create ur personal rank list and do not refer to these ranks wich come in mags........all that is useless.....big time money making business from all angles.......
One big question about XIMB comes at its locational disadvantage.......well i wud like to reinforce the point that yes we earlier had connectivity problems.....but now since past two years excellent connectivity through planes has been developed with other main cities of India.....so this limitation has been overcome and it sure does reflect..... 
About placement info on ximb go thru the article wich was put up on placements at XIMB on PG itself.......u can put full faith into it......

nithin Saysboo hoo!!! recvd my ximb call letter yesterday, and my interview is on 21st of march!!! by then both sibm and tapmi results will be out . so i guess its bye bye for my ximb hopes. newayz can highwaystar tell me when the results will be out. and y did they have to hold their int's so late?????

Recd the letter yesdy. 21 March, SJCBA, Blore 11:00 am.
By the time for XIMB GD PI, SIBM (over) and TAPMI(on 25th) will be out. But who knows what is meant for me.....
Hope to do my best in all the GDPIs...

To be frank i actually have no clue y they have held interviews tooooooooo late.........but i also agree its late........
I have no clue what the management is trying......

There are 77 engineers in our batch of 120, out of which 55 are with workex and from that around 26 people have a workex of more than 2 years.
