Interview Narration
Date of Interview: 18th March 2014
Chairman: Dr. S.R. Hashim
Entered the Hall greeted the Chairman (Ch) and other 3 members of the board. The chairman asked me to be seated. I thanked the chairman and sat comfortably.
Ch: So Mr. Ravikanth Reddy tell me something about yourself?
Me: Sir I am Ravikanth Reddy Done my B.Tech Computer Science Engineering from JNT University Hyd and then worked in Satyam Computers for 3 months and then done my PG from TISS Mumbai. I worked in UNO at Geneva for 2 years then UNICEF Hyderabad for 2 years and then I am presently working with Rural Development Department in Telangana State Govt As a Consultant.
Ch: You have done ur Engineering in Computer Science and Then MA in Social Work two streams quite different why did u chose Social Work after B.Tech
Me: Sir as I come from Hyderabad most of the Parents from Hyderabad are tuned towards their Children should be a Software Engineer and I had go by their Wish at that age i was not given a chance to express my area of Interest and I had to forcefully take the Subject and complete it for the satisfaction of parents i worked for 3 months in software and shifted my stream to Social Work which was my area of Interest.
Ch: Ok but why u want to Join Govt sector?
Me: Sir by Joining in Govt Sector we can implement the policies of Govt and with the responsibility and Authority we can contribute to the Civil Society better.
Ch: But Contribution to Civil Society can also be done through Joining Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wings of the Corporate.
Me: Sir by joining CSR we cannot contribute in the same way like a Govt Servant because most of CSR activities are non sustainable and Corporates do the CSR activities increase their image in the society and sell their Products better.
Ch: So ur Blaming the entire Corporate world?
Me: Sir this is not a blame sir its my opinion only as I have see few of them working for marketing their products than to contribute to the society.
Ch: U said CSR activities are non sustainable so do u mean to say Govt programmes are sustainable if so can u explain with an example?
Me: Sir definitely Govt Programmes are sustainable because if we take the pulse polio programme in our Country we are able to proudly say that we have almost eradicated polio from our country had the same programme been given to Corporates this could not have been possible if the same responsibility was given to them. Today Govt has its representatives at all levels i.e. from state level to Village level and all the citizens are aware about the importance of pulse polio and it is been a successful and sustainable programme.
Ch: Ok. But do you know the pay u will get in Govt it is very less. U can earn more if go to the corporate world.
Me: Sir i am not interested towards Money I have enough ancestral property and I just want to serve the civil society which can be done effectively by Joinning Govt service.
Ch: thats fine. Why only CLS?
Me: Sir if we see the labour situation in the country 80% of them constitute the un organised sector of labour and the implementation of various labour laws with this community has always been neglected and I feel that as a CLS officer i can contribute effectively by enforcing all the labour laws designed for the un organised sector of labour.
M1: Ok u have done B.Tech so can u tell me what is the Difference between RAM and ROM
Me: RAM: Random Access Memory its Volatile in nature and ROM is read Only Memory and its non volatile.
M1: When is National Youth Day Celebrated?
Me: 12TH January on account of Swamy Viveakananda Birthday
M1: Good
M1: Can you chronologically define the Machinery Setup in ID Act?
Me: 1. Works Committee 2. Board of Conciliation 3. Labour Court 4. Industrial Tribunal 5. National Tribunal.
M1. Can u tell when an issue is referred to Tribunal
Me: When dispute covered under Section 2A not being setteled in Labour Court it is referred to Tribunal
M2: What are the Different Types of Employees?
Ans. Regular Employees, Contract Employees, Seasonal Employees, & Temporary Employees.
M2: Difference Between Temporary and Contract Employee?
Me: Contract Employees are Governed by Contract Labour Act 1972. Temporary Employees is appointed for a specific Job and can be terminated after the completion of the Job Work.
M3: if there is a Maid in your House met with an Accident while working will u cover her under Workmens Compensation Act?
Me: No Sir. As the WC act is applicable if 20 or more employees are employed in a particular Industry or a Factory.
M3: So u will u pay her compensation or no?
Me: Sir we will pay for her treatment and on Humanitarian grounds we can pay but if we don't pay she has no legal binding.
M3: if a temporary employees went outside on office work and met with an accident will u cover him under WC Act or MV Act?
Me: I was not sure and Said Sir I am not Sure but i could be WC Act.
M3: It can be covered by both.
Me: Thank you for correcting me Sir.
M3: What do you Know abt Bonded Labour?
Me: Sir I had contributed a small extent in reducing the Bonded Labour in our Area. If u permit i can narrate it. The Chairman Permitted and I explained (Will give details later) The member was happy and said do ur Already into action Good.
M4: Mr. Reedy if an employer is properly and promptly paying the wages, Bonus, PF, ESI and the relations between employees and employer are cordial then according to you thir should be legal binding of labour laws or no?
Me: Sir there should be legal binding even if the relations are Cordial.
M4: Now iam saying ur wrong ur not fit for this Job. U don't know the implications of legal binding when ever there is a enquiry there will be a Inspector who will write lengthy report on the issues and in the mean while there will be exchange of Bribe etc.
Me: Sir I still stick to my opinion because as far as the relations between employee and Employer are cordial the question of legal binding dosent arise but the moment the relationship is not cordial and if any dispute arises between employee and Employer and if there is no legal binding on Labour laws the establishment will collapse.
M4. Ok fine.
Ch: Ok Mr. Reddy ur Interview is over you can leave now. I thanked all the members and exited out.
Hey Mr. Ravikanth, thanks a lot for the valuable input about the interview. Would you mind to share your marks (written & interview)?
