Guys I have heard from "not all dat reliable" source dat the written cut off for the previous yrs autonomous
courses (PGDBM/PGPeB/PGDBM-Retail/PGDBA) at wellingkars was round bout 93...after dat it was upto u to crack da gd pi....cud we get this confirmed by some of our seniors out here.....i have a 102(86.81%) score...n for da MMS course i suppose u atleast need a written score of round bout 125...i aint tryin to put any one down..but got this from ppl i spoke too....correct me if i m wrong!!!!

now time for my query.. WHY THE HELL HAVE I NOT RECIEVED A SINGLE MAIL FROM THEM???? called'em up and they say they've recieved my form and also checked it on their site myself but not a single mail from their side ya not even in the junk folder (though i got mails from them soon after i registered but not after that). now they ask us to check our inbox regularly for what rhyme o reason i dunno!! anyone else with the same prob?
also when are the results expected? please comment on my chances- CAT 88.9%ile and CET 85.27%ile( i know thats bad). help ya i am sick to my stomach!!

Hey aparna...u dont need to do anything for the mms thing.....as this course is affiliated to the mumbai university..all u have to do is get good 30 odd score in ur may gdpi ..n be assured of a seat...
anyways wat r my chances wid 102 in da autonomous thing???

i'm not sure but last time round i dont thnk cet scores were accepted for pg by welingkar.if u are talking of mms tht person mustve seriously screwed up gd/pi.i thnk xat/cat and mat scores along wid their own entrance were used for pg.this yr with tht percentile ull get into mms atleast if not in pgdbm.
Coming back to the avg sal on campus........I gt a 108 on the CET and 3 years work ex and am thinking I have a good chance at welingkar atleast the pgdm . Wat do you'll think. The thing Is I am in the financial services sector and have just landed a 3.5 p.a. job. Its a very good one. After 2 years of MBA I don't want to land up at the same place yaar. But I also realise the the importance of the certificate man............still I'm wondering if Its worth it. Also yaar it should be fun .........are there clubs and stuff. Do they have a student magazine? Please advice

To tell you very frankly, plzzzzz try for some better college. I too am from a fin services sector. Welingkar as of now is good, but the score of 108 may/maynot be enough. you are on the fence. You have 3 yrs work ex. dont let it go waste. Try next year and get into some A grade school. then it makes sense. After welingkar you might land up lets say with the highest sal lets say 5.5. but you gotta see, that for 2 years you will not be working and get no sal and ppl who stck to their jobs for 2 yrs will be more or less at ur level if not more.
If you feel tht degree is soooo imp then go into an executive MBA. Given the scenerio in fin services sector you company will be more than happy to keep you, you will get a raise after MBA and you will not loose out on the 2 -3 yrs sal tht u wuilll continue to earn.
i think it makes more sense to be choosy with you college.

I am not a past student, but i hope i can help. i know ppl who are in Welingkar...
As far as i know, the PIs are fairly simple unless you have written tht is really off the track. I mean if you have written something really stupid or really Attention asking types. However your PI is based on wht you have written in your essay form. So just be well read of wht you have written and you will sail thru.
Apart from PI, Essay forms have separate marks altogether. 15 i suppose.
Abt whts better and whts not (PGDBM or MMS), i would say beggars are not choosers. BUT..........
If u r looking for further studies abroad then MMS, if in India rather mumbai then PGDBM. i have friends there who tell me that for placements they give preference to PGDBM students.
Also MMs is a Mumbai university course, so the 2 yrs tht u spend will be like mugging and vomitting. Its all about the score.......... Same as you did in ur grads. Pgdbm is more lively and more practically inclined if i may say so.
To authenticate my views let me tell you i got friends both in PGDBM and MMS. Ppl who have taken MMS is basically because they are planning to go abroad and they need a degree, PGDBM is a diploma.

I don't really believe in the ABCD funda of colleges. Though you can see differences in the people who you work with, across all the colleges they have done their PG from.

Scores etc are other things but as far as exp of 3 yrs is concerned, let us discuss.
rite now u r getting 3.5 so in 2 yrs u will get almost 7.5 lacs(i m assuming salary hike also) n in Weling u r going 2 speng abt 3 lacs(i may not be accurate) so its an investment of about ....say 11 lacs.
But cum on Buddy just think that even if u get a starting salary of 5.5. after pgdbm, then also try to imagine the scenario after a few yrs, u change a job n the next company wil offer u almost double(3 yrs work ex + MBA --what else they wil get in a candidate!!!)
So man try to think abt the future n sunny side of it, go 4 an MBA --Beleive me its worth spending a few bucks !!!
As far as A grade colleges r concerned obviously IIms are the best but better something than nothing. If u try next year then u will have an exp of about 4 yrs which starts getting on a slight -ve side atleast in India.For GMAT they wud have embraced u jus like nething!!Mind it i m not discouraging u --if u can wait 4 one more year n go 4 a better coll next year --do it man!!
