German engineering giant Siemens, which is increasingly feeling the effects of the economic downturn, is to slash “thousands” of jobs, the financial daily Boersen Zeitung reported on Tuesday. Last month, Siemens chief executive Peter Loescher said the company was drawing up a programme to cut costs, boost productivity and efficiency. While the programme would not primarily be implemented by reducing the headcount, job cuts could not be ruled out completely, Loescher said at the time. At the end of July, Siemens warned that it would be harder to achieve its annual profit targets, as the gloomy global economic mood weighs on orders, especially in the field of renewable energy. It was the second time Siemens had been forced to revise down its targets this year.Given above is a piece of news published in a leading German daily. Alexander, an excellent employee at Siemens, came across this news and is unsure about his stay in the company in the given scenario. From your understanding of the passage, advise Alexander regarding the same from the options given below
.A Alexander should not resign/panic as he is a valuable resource of the company; it is unlikely that he would be asked to leave.
B Alexander should resign and start looking for jobs with immediate effect; given the situation layoffs are on the way.
C Alexander should not resign but express his fears/concerns to his immediate superiors/managers.
D Alexander should not resign but start looking for jobs to fall back on in case he is asked to leave.
E Alexander should not resign but discuss the situation with colleagues and try to get more information on the issue.

Final all possible four digit numbers such that if 7 always followed by 8 then the last two digit is divisible by 3 ?
The sense of delayed gratification, of working now for later pleasure, has helped shape the economic behavior of our society. However, that sense is no longer nurtured as consistently in our children as it once was. For example, it used to take a bit of patience to put together the toys that children got the cereal boxes; now the toys come from the boxes whole. Which of the following is an assumption made by the argument?
- The influence of promotion gimmicks on the economic behavior of our society has increased over the years.
- The toys in cereal boxes have changed partly because the economic conditions of our society have improved.
- Today’s children do not expect a single toy to provide pleasure for a long period of time.
- Part of the pleasure of any toy lies in putting the toy together before playing with it.
- The toys that used to come in cereal boxes were put together by the same children who played with them.

Nineteenth-century art critics judged art by the realism of its method of representation. It was assumed that the realistic method developed from primitive beginnings to the perfection of formal realism. It is one of the permanent gains of the artistic revolution of the twentieth century that we are rid of this type of aesthetics. It can be inferred from the information given that the artistic revolution of the twentieth century had which of the following effects?
- It permitted modern critics to appreciate the simplicity of primitive art.
- It de-emphasized realistic representation as an evaluative consideration for judging words of art.
- It allowed art critics to understand the evolution and nature of art.
- It reinforced traditional ways of looking at and judging great art.
- It repudiated the realistic representation found in art before the nineteenth century.

A small dose of a widely used tranquilizer allows people to lie during lie detector tests without being discovered. The stress responses that lie detector tests measure can be inhibited by the drug without noticeable side effects. One of the implications of this fact is that the drug can also be effective in reducing stress in everyday situations. An assumption of the passage is that
- Stress as measured by a lie detector is similar to everyday stress
- Tranquilizers are always an effective treatment for stress
- It is not desirable to reduce stress in everyday situations
- Persons how lie during a lie detector test always display signs of stress
- The inhibition of stress responses increases subjective stress

The rise in free, do-it-yourself instructions on the Internet for home repairs has led to a decrease in revenue for home service technicians and an increase in the number of injuries caused by people who have attempted home repairs themselves. Unfortunately, not all of the do-it-yourself instructions on the Internet are written as well as they should be.Which of the following can be inferred from the argument above?
- The overall sale of online do-it-yourself home repair instructions by home service technicians has not been equal to the loss of revenue the technicians have incurred due to free offerings of this sort of material.
- The number of people who are not home repair technicians and who have been injured while attempting home repairs has increased.
- As more free do-it-yourself instructions for home repairs are made available on the Internet, home service technicians will suffer more losses in revenue.
- Most free do-it-yourself home repair instructions found on the Internet do not provide enough clear information regarding safety precautions.
- Most people who are injured while attempting home repairs have done so while following instructions found in free do-it-yourself instructions on the Internet.

Pradeep Nevatia is the managing director of Lason India, a subsidiary of the $167-million BPO firm Lason. Sharmila works as a business associate of Lason. She implements small, low-skill portions of BPO contracts that Lason wins from big customers around the globe. Over the last few months, Nevatia and his team gave her an extraordinary level of support - technical, managerial, and motivational - to help start this centre. And they are willing to do all it takes to ensure that her centre runs well.
Nevatia is hunting for seven more entrepreneurs like Sharmila to start similar centres in villages. He will give them as much support as he is giving Sharmila. Nevatia wants to prove that a village BPO model will work.
Sections of the Indian BPO industry, especially those at the lower end of the value chain, are watching this experiment with some interest. Today, most BPO companies are caught in a pincer. Global competition and aggressive customer expectations are pushing down billing rates. On the other hand, attrition and the growing cost of talent are pushing up costs. Several BPO companies are turning to smaller cities in search of larger, cheaper and more loyal talent pools. Even higher-end software firms like Cognizant Technology Solutions are setting up centres in places like Coimbatore. But no one has entered a village yet, nor do they intend to.
Despite Lason’s show of faith in Sharmila and those like her, the notion of rural BPO centres still seems far-fetched. There are several reasons why such initiatives may not succeed. First, most BPO firms are more comfortable with large centres with capacities of 1,000 seats and above. Anything smaller is considered uneconomical. A rural environment just does not provide large enough talent pools to consider such centres. Second, despite India’s progress in telecom, connectivity in rural areas is a big worry. Lason is wiring Kizhanur to its office through n-Logue Communications, a wireless in local loop rural connectivity, a company set up by IIT- Madras’ TENET group. But it remains to be seen if the model will work on a larger scale. Third, there is bound to be stiff opposition from international customers on issues including quality, reliability, infrastructure, delivery, etc.
Which of the following may help Nevatia stay afloat despite operating in rural areas?
1. Lower salaries in its rural centres than those in urban areas.
2. Lower real estate prices in rural areas, thereby reducing the cost pressure on the company.
3. Lower security concerns as people in rural areas operate on loyalty.
4. Lower costs such as medical and house rent allowance for employees.

A number is said to be "mysterious" if reading it from left to right is the same as reading it from right to left (for example: 1221, 223322, 543345). Furthermore, a number is said to be "almost mysterious" if it is "mysterious" or if its digits can be rearranged in such a way that a "mysterious" number is formed. For example, the number 2200 is "almost mysterious" because it can be rearranged as the "mysterious" number 2002. How many 6-digit "almost mysterious" numbers can be formed with the digits from 1 to 9?
