I have a doubt regarding negative marking for unattempted question. So thr maximum threshold is 12 questions right? And if, for example I did not attempt 18 question, so my negative marketing would be (18-12)*0.05 = 0.3. Someone please clarify! Thanks!!

Hey guys, Â what is the weigtage of XAT marks in XLRI final selection?
What was the cutoff for Verbal last year. ? What could be this year ? Respond if anyone knows.
What were the last year cutoffs in each section and overall, in terms of score and not percentile ?
XAT 2019 analysis (Not an expert opinion), just an observation -
Section wise -
1. VALR -
Due to the presence of a few direct critical reasoning questions and easy to comprehend passages, top scorers have attempted comparatively more no. of questions which has benefited them. For people who have attempted less, accuracy will be a key factor. It can be the case that someone attempting 20 got 4 wrong, and someone attempting 12 also got exactly those 4 wrong. More attempts made sense in VA this time.
2. DM -
Presence of 2 similar sets as previous year papers has resulted in increased no. of attempts at the higher end. Quite a few ppl would've attempted the full section. The increased no. of ordering questions nullified this effect to a certain extent.
3. QADI -
Some have performed wonderfully here. Though it was a bit on difficult side as compared to last year due to some more geometry, no TSD questions, and confusion in 2 questions leading to wastage of precious time.Â
PS : Due to change in the penalty of unattempted questions, the scores would be more spread out as compared to the previous years. Also this may bring down the effect of extra attempts to a certain extent.
XAT is a paper which rewards more attempts. It is very much possible to score a 44 if one attempts the full paper and has only 67% accuracy.
Regarding cutoffs IMO -
VA - Last yr + (0.5-1)
DM - Last yr + (0.25-0.5)
QA - Similar to last yr (after including marks for bonus questions)
OA - Last yr + (0.75-1.5)
These are call cutoffs, the people at higher end have scored wonderfully. The 99+ scorers will be at higher scores as compared to last yr.
OA: 34.85, VA-12.5, DM-10.25, QA-13, what are my chances for XLRI hr/ bm? And what percentile can be expected?
