Is General Awareness section taken into consideration for calculation of percentile in XAT 2019?

Hello all! What could be the percentile for 36 marks in IIFT for this year ?

As per Siddharth Chaudhary @sidkota of #IIMKashipur

How he attempted SNAP and scored 99.66 percentile

*Attempted the General English section first, being good in solving passage type questions, I had ease in solving these questions. A quick tip: read the questions before reading the passage, it saves a lot of time that would be used to search for answers at a later time. In total I had attempted 33 out of 40 questions in this section, taking 30 minutes, keeping a strategy of attempting around 80% questions with 80% accuracy.

*After going through the passage type questions I came to the Current affairs, and solved all those I knew, this is the section that should be attempted as soon as possible. As the questions are not solvable and you can only attempt the questions that you really know, hence saving time for other sections. Here I had attempted 16 questions in this section, with around half of them being gut feeling answers, in hope of getting some right, completing the section under 10 minutes.

*Next I went through the Logical Reasoning section, as I like this section and prefer to devote some time to this exclusively. I was around 40 minutes in the exam by now with 70 minutes remaining. First I went through the questions, skipping the hard ones and attempting all the easy ones like sequence and coding type questions. This ensures you have at least done half of this section and can take some time out for the difficult ones that deem solvable. I had done 28 questions in this section, taking up around 30-35 minutes, leaving enough time for the last section.

*In Quants section, I have always been a bit weak, so I attempted it last so that I cover up all the sections I can give my best in. I was lucky that I found quants easy in this paper but that’s not always the case, so I waited till last. I attempted 27 questions, in 25-30 minutes, doing questions like work, geometry, speed distance time, etc. quickly as they are usually least time-consuming.

*I had around 5 minutes left in the end where I went through sections, checking the questions I had marked to be done later, and did 1-2 more questions. Hoping they were right 😅.

*A general tip that I was given during my preparation time: Attempt the questions that you’re confident for, mark for later the questions which will take some effort, and straightforwardly leave the questions that you know you can’t attempt!

Everyone has gathered different knowledge during the preparation so the types of questions you may attempt can vary greatly than mine, but what I’ve seen and got to know after many discussions, time management is the biggest deal, even an average student with good time management can do better than a smarter student with poor time management.
