and any advice about the institute called praxis would be welcome too...

Hi vits, xombie, maverick..

Can anyone tell me if XIMB lays stress on quants more than other 2 sections.. And one more thing.. is there a distant probability tat a person wit gud scores in 2 sections and bad in 1 section might be considered for a call.. given tat the overall score is high.. just speculating.. coz me facing a similar scenario

thanks
sobhan

Sobhan bhai...

XIMB has sectional cutoffs(generally at about 85%ile) along with an overall cutoff (generally at about 95%ile)

Apart from these they do give importance to Work-exp as well... In case u have not messed up a section too badly (say less than 70%ile) and have a decent enuf work-exp, you may have an outside chance of getting a call... I think this clears your doubts to some extent...
I guess if u want more clarifications, you may have to provide some more details of your XAT score and profile!

Best of Luck!!!

even i request the XIMB students to reply to this query. I am in a similar state as sobhan. 95.XX, 96.XX, 68.XX. well i do have 4 yrs work ex to bank on. Do I stand a chance?

expecting the XIMB guys to reply to this query.
Am depressed since I lost out in one section in both CAT and XAT while the rest 2 went well. I would like to use the term UNLUCKY for myself though I know that self pitying isnt the right thing. 😞

hey dude u have a very very good chance i would say coz ur from the domicile category ... ATB for ur GD/PI prep. and u have a good pedigree too ... so try hard NOT to get into XIMB.

BTW i guess my case is a bit different .. me not in the domicile category.

your profile should make up for your DI score...

but XIMb is quite strict with sectionals..so you are still on the borderline...

all the best! πŸ˜ƒ

Hi dude..
well ur overall score shud be above cut off.. and with 31 months work-ex it shud make up for ur quants score.. but still its a borderline case.. hope for the best..

XIMB is very strict with sectional cut-offs...and these cut-offs are set on the basis of the scores as well as profiles of the applicants. In case there are a lot of cases like people with good profiles but a lower score in ONE SPECIFIC section, then the cut-off for that SPECIFIC section might be lower than expected. However, the work-ex or the profile or the total score in XAT alongwith 2 other sectionals are not directly associated in fetching a call, because the cut-offs are decided on the basis of pre-screening of these factors. Hence, saying that the work-ex might help in making up for the low score in a specific section doesn't exactly mean that depsite a candidate not meeting the set cut-off, he/she would be considered on the basis of his/her profile, but it implies that if people with good profiles are also in your category, then it would lead in slightly lowering the cut-offs.

Yes, candidates under domicile category have some advantage over others in terms of cut-offs, but the weightage for GD/PIs remain the same. So, strictly speaking, if you do not perform well in your GD/PI, then you would not be selected despite being a domicile.

I hope this post answers your queries.

@ ALL - The shortlist for GD/PI would most probably be declared by next Monday or Tuesday and not before that. So, dont panik for the time being. Just chill & relax! πŸ˜ƒ
