Now that the classes have commenced, when will xl freeze the admission process and refund the amount us waitlisters paid? Also, would it be worth joining if your waitlist SOMEHOW converts after the classes have already started (would one be able to cope up, since... we've already missed out on the prep course and a few classes as well). Morever, it is beyond me, why only 178 people were given admission.... when the past trends show that XL has been admitting a number slightly over 180 per course.. for the past few years atleast. Couldn't they just stick to 180 for once! And why has the process become so incredibly opaque this year? -Anxious frustrated waitlister

Fr Paul Fernandes was appointed Director of XLRI on 3 May 2021. This is in direct contravention of AICTE provisions that mention the age of superannuation of Directors as 65. Fr Paul turned 65 on 8 February 2021, almost 3 months prior to his appointment as Director.
While AICTE allows for extensions, it is only for faculty and not for directors. Also, Fr Fernandes does not fulfil the conditions laid down for extension of a faculty's term.
Several years back, XLRI had transgressed and appointed Fr Kasimir Raj as director but acting on complains, he was asked by AICTE to resign.
To seal the deal and to ensure that no one from AICTE complains about his appointment, Fr Fernandes gave admission to the daughter of a high ranking official from the education ministry, in the BM program at Jamshedpur. While the main waitlist stopped at 190, she got admission in spite of a waitlist number of around 1500
It does not behove an organisation of the stature of XLRI to knowingly and repeatedly go against the law of the land. It sets a bad precedent and weakens the hand of the regulatory authorities when seeking intervene in 'lesser' institutions.
