Director Speak: Interview of Mr Vidur Kapoor from Bengal Institute of Business Studies
Would you choose to be called an academic or an administrator? Why?
I would neither call myself an academician nor an administrator. My role has always been to motivate the students and help them identify their skill sets, which shall encourage them to experiment with innovative ideas.
How would you want to solve the problem of Quality Faculty in Management Education? Can we follow a framework for the same?
I do not think there is a problem of Quality Faculty in Management Education as BIBS has never come across such a crisis. BIBS has an active Industry- Academic Council to make students adapt at both theoretical and practical knowledge. The regular “corporate @ campus” session at BIBS provides the right mix of management educational environment.
What are the top challenges that you want to solve today for your institution?
The biggest challenge is to keep the students continuously motivated. Students come with certain perceptions which need to be matched with their skills so that they can aim high and set realistic expectations.
What’s your biggest achievement as a part of this Institution?
The biggest achievement for the institute has been to create the scope for each student to identify their talents and make the best use of them through several LIVE Learning & Management Guest Inspire Series sessions.
According to you, what’s the ideal profile of a candidate whom you would accept into your program?
The candidate should have the flexibility and the ability to communicate with a go getting attitude. A candidate has to clear CAT/XAT/MAT with 50 percentile marks, followed by GD and PI. Graduates or final year students are eligible to apply.
