ACT test registration fees to be increased for international applicants
The ACT Inc, an Iowa-based company that produces and organises the American College Testing (ACT) Exam has decided to raise registration fees for overseas test takers from April 2017. This can be seen as a move to counter increasing cases of test day cheating internationally. According to reports released by ACT Inc. on January 9, the test fees are set to be increased by up to $50 per international test-taker, and the additional amount will be used to improve security at test centres to prevent cheating.
In October 2016, the ACT had to cancel the writing scores for several students in Asia and Oceania countries because of an information leak. In a November 2016 press release, the ACT stated that South Korea will shut down its 32 test centers and have just a single test center for the entire country in Seoul.
In view of such incidents, unfortunately, students from India will also have to pay the additional price for tests registered after April 2017. Currently, the ACT registration cost for international students is about $40 to $55 depending on the type of the test and the number of colleges applied to.
