And I thought the weather was ‘Nice’

Today was a different day among these days of scorching sun of hot summers.Looking out of the window, a calmed down happy weather greeted me. I decided it was the best day to finish off pending outdoor work. I got ready, did my breakfast, picked up required stuff, and set out of the house. The cool breeze playfully moved around teasing people. The houses around looked fresh. At 10 am, it looked like 6 am, as fresh as sun had just risen. I walked with a smile on my face. As I walked, I planned the entire schedule for the day in my mind, allotting fixed time for each task. I took the city bus. During the bus time, the weather changed from calm bright to shady and cloudy . As it was time to get off the bus, the rain had come into its own. Out in the harsh weather, it was cold winds blowing and heavy downpour. “You cheats”, I shouted at the sky.

I took shelter under a shop for sometime. The rain stopped after waiting for a while, but left the roads filled with its water. I made two-three folds in my jeans and started moving in the water.Moving in water-filled roads is very much like moving in darkness. In both the cases, you have to feel the road rather than see it and take steps cautiously. The running bikes and cars made it worse, dirtying clothes and funnily, self-confidence. A man from behind stepped onto my slippers and the strap of the slipper came out ! Amazing day, I needed to bookmark this date and day of the week as ‘inauspicious’ , without consulting any astrologer. On such days you realize how intelligent it is to carry an extra pair of clothes and slippers. Anyway, I somehow made it to the office. After a few hours of running here and there, the paper work was done. There are times when we measure time by watching how many minutes have passed. And then there are other times when we feel it in seconds or perhaps I could even dissect seconds into smaller pieces at that time. The half-an-hour return journey easily slipped into a 2 hour journey back home, thanks to the traffic jam. Actually it was ‘vehicle chivalry day’, each one said to another “First You”, and so none moved. They lined up one after another and by the time theses cars and bikes realized that their manners were leading to chaos, the situation had already turned into a calamity called ‘JAM’. On a hungry stomach and a tired body, taking a multiplying index of 100, it comes out to be 2*100 = 200 hours of real time journey. Finally, after walking for a few meters, I did reach home, 4 hours later than calculated. But still, i made it.

That wasn’t a ‘simple day’, that was life masked as a day! Phew! I actually believed the weather.
