Banking and Financial Services recruits 38 pc of the batch at IIFT
The jobs on offer were across industry verticals like sales, marketing, strategy, banking, trade, consulting, telecom, steel, textiles, consumer goods, IT, pharmaceuticals, insurance, beverages, media and general management. Carbon Trade Consulting made debut at IIFT this year with companies like Emergent Ventures offering such profiles. Media was another new entrant this time around with HT Media recruiting from the campus for the first time.
Financial analyst profiles were offered by Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Kotak, ICICI and Inductis while credit rating agency ICRA offered the post of a senior associate analyst. Citibank, Barclays, ICICI, Axis Bank, HSBC and HDFC offered a gamut of marketing, sales and investment banking profiles.
Reckitt Benckiser, ITC, Colgate Palmolive, Britannia, Cadbury along with others represented the FMCG sector. This year also witnessed telecommunication companies visiting IIFT included Bharti, Vodafone, Reliance Communications, and Idea. Recruiters of business conglomerates like Bharti, Essar, Aditya Birla Group, the Tata group made several offers on campus. Trade majors like Cargill, Olam International and SRS also participated in the process. Despite fears of an IT slowdown, IT majors Wipro, TCS, HCL, IBM, Cognizant and Infosys were present to recruit from IIFT.
Summer Placements
Summer placements at IIFT for the 2007-2009 batch saw 168 students, with 116 people from the Delhi campus and 52 from Kolkata campus, getting placed. The new recruiters this year included I-banking firm Lehman Brothers, media firm HT Media, Tata Steel, BPCL (Retail) ICI Paints and Trident among others. International offers were made by companies in the pharmaceutical and automobile sectors in Egypt and Malaysia.
The list of regular recruiters for summer recruits included Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC, Colgate Palmolive, Britannia, Cadbury’s, Coca Cola, Dabur, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog Limited and Essar. IT companies saw participation from companies like SAP, IBM, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Wipro, Patni Computers, US Technologies.
