CAT 2016 registration numbers shoot to 2,32,434; CAT Convenor must be happy
Paying no heed to the spate of Common Admission Test (CAT) registrations in the last few years, this year the numbers for CAT 2016, have raced ahead. At the time of closing registration at 5 pm today (September 27, 2016), numbers recorded were a whopping 2,32,434.
A big jump, considering that at the time of the initial closing day on September 22, 2016 at 3.00 pm, the numbers were only 2,08,000. This also validates CAT 2016 Convener Prof. Rajendra K. Bandi argument on September 22, 2016 that, aspirants wait for the last days to register for the exam. The prime reason, why registration deadline got extended by 5 days.
The fact that registrations closed higher than last year (2,18,664) has probably come as a big relief to all connected to the MBA world in India- the management institutes, coaching industry and most of all the CAT office. After all, the measures put in to attract people back to MBA were no mean task.
Of course, how many of those registered will take the exam is a different matter. But let’s rejoice that, the exam that hopes to turn people into ‘good managers’ is again in the reckoning.
