Central Armed Police Forces (Asst. Commandants) Examination – Details of the test
The notification for the Central Armed Police Forces (Asst. Commandants) Exam 2015 will be released by the UPSC on 11th April 2015 (tentatively). In the previous article on this examination, we had discussed this test in brief. Let us now try to understand the selection procedure, scheme and syllabus of the exam in detail.
This Examination comprises four stages:
(i) Written Examination
(ii) Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests
(iii) Interview/ Personality Test
(iv) Final Selection/ Merit list
The written Examination has two papers, which are as follows:
Paper 1: General Ability and Intelligence (Objective Type) 250 Marks
Paper 2: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (Essay Type) 200 Marks
Note:
There will be penalty for wrong answers in the objective type written exam.
There will be minimum qualifying marks for Paper 1 and 2. Paper 2 would be evaluated only for those candidates who qualify in Paper 1.
The syllabi of the written papers is as follows:
General Mental Ability and Intelligence – This paper includes questions on logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude – including numerical ability and data interpretation – General Science, Indian Polity and Economy, History of India, Indian and World Geography, etc.
General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – Candidates are expected to write an Essay, arguments for and against an opinion, Report on a said topic within the prescribed word limit, etc. Topics for these tasks could be from areas related to Modern Indian History, Polity and Economy, Human Rights Issues, critical issues in the news, etc. Other questions would include Précis writing, comprehension passages testing a candidate’s understanding of English Language and Grammar, etc.
Those candidates who qualify the written examination will be summoned for the next stage, i.e. the Physical and Medical Standards Test.
II The Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency Test parameters are as indicated below:

Those candidates who qualify the Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency and Medical standards test will be called for an Interview/ Personality Test conducted by the UPSC.
III Interview and Personality Test
The interview and Personality test carries 150 Marks.
IV. Final Merit List – The final merit list will be drawn on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the written exam and in the personality test.
