During my last five years as faculty of management with MERI, I have had great interactions with student managers. But I have always felt the need of bridging the gap between what is being taught by us at B-school and what is the corporate requirements from these budding future managers. So when I got this invitation from Tata AIA Life Insurance to take a session “The Art of Interpersonal Communication and Behavioural Skills”. I took it as an opportunity to understand the corporate demands from the management students.
The session was very interactive and interesting. It was attended by 18 branch managers from different branches of Tata AIA across Delhi NCR. All the participants were quite receptive towards the session, and the psychometric tests conducted to give them an idea about their personality traits that are perceived by others but perhaps they are unaware about themselves. It was an amazing experience of mutual learning and finding out avenues of understanding.
