1. Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi resigns
i. Jitan Ram Manjhi resigns as Bihar Chief
Minister ahead of the trust vote in the state assembly.
ii. He has submitted his resignation letter to the
Governor of Bihar, Keshari Nath Tripathi. Mr Manjhi said that he had the
sufficient numbers of to prove his majority in the assembly.
iii. Mr. Manjhi alleged that he had taken the
decision in protest against the unconstitutional behavior of the Assembly
Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary and threat to the legislators backing him.
2. The New
Development Bank will starts operation by August 2016: Business Council
i. According to the Interim Chairman of BIRCS
Business Council of India Tulsi Tanti “The New Development Bank” will starts
its operation by August 2016.
ii. BRICS Business Council which was established
in 2013 comprises of 25 members from Brazil, Russia, India, China & South
Africa.
iii. The New Development Bank was created last
year by BRICS Nations to reserve fund to finance infrastructure projects and to
head off future economic crises.
iv. The headquarter of Bank will be located in
Shanghai, China and India will hold the Presidency of Bank for the first six
years.
3. Dept of
Post, Mahindras, Videocon join banking race
i. Department of Post, Tech Mahindra, Videocon
Group and stock exchange NSE has applied for new category of Payment and Small
banks.
ii. According to the RBI, it has received more
than 100 application for Payment and Small Banks. The receipt of applications
for licensing of small finance banks and payments banks closed on 2nd February.
iii. RBI has created two external committees
which would evaluate the applications based on the criteria and other
parameters mentioned in the guidelines.
iv. As stated in
the guidelines, two External Advisory Committees (EACs) will evaluate the
applications received for setting up of small finance and payments banks.
v. The committee for small banks will be headed
by former RBI Deputy Governor Usha Thorat and Nachiket Mor, Director, Central
Board of RBI will be head of the committee for payment banks.
4. Eminent poet
Dr. Kalim Ahmed Ajiz passed away
i. Eminent Urdu poet Dr. Kalim Ahmed Ajiz passed
away in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. He is 90 year old.
ii. He was born in Telhara village of Nalanda
district in Bihar. He was the author of several books and classical ghazals and
his first book of ghazals was released in 1976 by the President of India
Fakruddin Ali Ahmad.
5. Bihar govt.
announced 35% reservation to women in Non Gazetted jobs
i. Bihar government has announced to give 35%
reservation to women in Non Gazetted jobs in the state.
ii. The decision was announced by Chief Minister
during the cabinet meeting which was held on 18th Feb 2015.
6. Ashraful
Haque, Bollywood Actor passed away
i. Ashraful Haque who was known for his role in the
movies Delhi Belly and Fukrey passed away in Andheri, Mumbai.
ii. He was suffering from Myelodysplastic
Syndrome. He was 46. Haque is survived by his wife and a son.
