1. PM launches PRAGATI platform

i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ambitious multi-purpose and multi-modal platform PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) in New Delhi.

ii. PRAGATI is a unique integrating and interactive platform which is aimed at addressing common man’s grievances, and simultaneously monitoring and reviewing important programmes and projects of the Government of India as well as projects flagged by state governments. 
iii. The programme will be tied together by technology, with information on projects being available at a click. The Pragati sessions will take place every fourth Wednesday.

2. World Bank sanctions Rs 100 cr for development of Sagar Island in WB

i. The World Bank has sanctioned 100 crore rupees for all round development of Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal.

ii. World Bank has come forward with a financial assistance of 36 crore rupees for the development of Kapilmuni Temple area.

iii. Under the project Kapil Complex the Nat mandir will be beautified besides setting up a Bus Stand, mobile stalls, toilets, cottage for tourists and improvement of drainage system in the area.

3. Renowned Assamese actor Indra Bania passes away

i. Indra Bania renowned Assamese actor passed away last night in a hospital in Guwahati after prolonged illness. He was born in Lakhimpur district.

ii. He won several awards and laurels including Special prize in Locarno International Film Festival for Assamese movie Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai.

4. Ashok Bhooshan became new Chief Justice of Kerala HC

i. Justice Ashok Bhooshan has assumed office as Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

ii. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram today by Kerala Governor Justice P Sathasivam.

5. Bangladesh celebrated its 45th Independence Day

i. Bangladesh is celebrating its 45th Independence Day today.

ii. The day was marked with the beginning of nation’s nine-month long Liberation War which culminated in free Bangladesh on December 16, 1971. 

6. Australia beat India by 95 runs, enter into WC Final

i. Australia defeated India by 95 runs to enter into final of ICC World Cup 2015. Australia will play New Zealand in the World Cup final.

ii. Chasing 329, India faltered after a strong start, losing wickets at regular intervals and folding for 233.

iii. This was the highest total by any team against India in this edition of the mega-event as the Australian batsmen dominated proceedings for the major part to become the first team to post a 300-plus score in a World Cup semifinal.

7. JP Duminy named Captain of Delhi Daredevils skipper for IPL 2015

i. South African all-rounder JP
Duminy will lead Delhi Daredevils in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier
League cricket tournament, starting next month.

ii. Duminy was
roped in by the Daredevils last season and was the star performer for the
franchise. He was recently named as South Africa’s T20 captain.
