1. Mufti
Mohammed Sayeed sworn in as 12th CM of  J&K

i. Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, leader of the People’s
Democratic Party, today sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Jammu &
Kashmir.

ii. He is leading a
historic alliance with the BJP, which has become part of a government in the
state for the first time.

iii. Along with the Chief Minister, 12 other members each from
PDP and BJP also takes oath today.

2. TRAI proposes sharp cut in roaming charges

i. Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed a
sharp cut in roaming charges.

ii. There will be cut of 35% and 80% in charges, while making calls and
sending messages in roaming respectively.

iii. Also TRAI proposed to cut down maximum charges for
outgoing calls during roaming to 65 paise per minute, from ceiling rate of one
rupee per minute.

iv. It has proposed to cut STD call rates to one rupee per
minute. For incoming calls, the regulator wants telecom companies to charge a
maximum of 45 paise per minute.

v. Besides, it has proposed a maximum of 25 paise per STD
SMS in roaming, compared to the prevailing ceiling tariff of 1.5 rupee per SMS.
vi. TRAI also said that local SMS
while roaming should be charged a maximum of only 20 paise compared one rupee
at present.

3. Martin David
Crowe inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

i. Former New Zealand cricket captain
Martin David Crowe was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
ii. He became the third New
Zealander after Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley to be included in the
Hall of Fame.

iii. Overall, he is
the 79th cricketer to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

4. 2022
Commonwealth Games will be held in Durban

i. The 2022 edition of Commonwealth Games (CWG) will be
hosted by South African city Durban.

ii. South Africa has proposed a 12-day Games starting from
July 18, birthday of late president Nelson Mandela.

iii. The 2014 Commonwealth Games was held in Glasgow,
Scotland and the 2018 edition is scheduled to be held in Gold Coast, Australia.

iv. The Commonwealth Games are
held every four years and feature athletes from over 50 countries.
