“Disappointed with CAT 2016 Results? Who We? You’ve got to be kidding!”

How does it feel to lose out on the top score by just a few points in the most anticipated entrance exam for MBA in the country? While one may think it brings in a lot of disappointment, those who’ve lost out on a 100 percentile by just a few points  have proved otherwise with their reactions today. PaGaLGuY was quite surprised to see these candidates satisfied with their scores/percentiles.

Pune based Chhandak Bandhopadhyay, who got a 99.97 percentile said, “ I am quite happy with my score. I knew I would get a 99 percentile but to get 99.97 percentile was unexpected. My aim was to attain maximum accuracy and I think that’s what worked,” he said. The B.Tech in Instrumentation graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur,  got shortlisted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and Kozhikode on January 9 2017. “Like everyone, my primary aim is to get into the top three IIMs. If luck doesn’t favour me,  I’ll aim for IIM Indore, Kozhikode or Lucknow,” he said.

Another aspirant, Rohit Garg, got a 99.94 percentile in his first attempt this year. “I couldn’t be happier as my percentile is in accordance to my expectation, which was somewhere between 99 and 99.5,” he said. He too has got shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore. “God forbid should I not make it to any of the top three IIMs, I won’t know what to do as I  don’t think I’ll get such a good score again,” he said.

Anurag Nandi who has been working in a Management Consulting firm since a little over a year has got a 99.95 percentile and describes it as a pleasant surprise. “ The score is greatly unexpected as the number of questions I attempted were just  73. I got lucky as my accuracy was higher,” he said. Anurag had also checked his percentile in many percentile predictors, which indicated he would get somewhere between 94 and 99.2 percentile. Keeping the trend going, he too is aspiring to get into either of the top three IIMs. “I’ve got shortlisted by both IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore. If I don’t get into any of them, I may consider Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), New Delhi,” he said.
