Everything You Need to Know About IIFT 2019 Exam Pattern

There are very few exams and courses that are very difficult and are of great importance in India. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade holds an exam named IIFT (IB). The details for the IIFT (IB) have been released and every candidate is working harder and can see their goal in front of their eyes by now.

  • Date and time

The exam will be held on 2nd December 2018. The exam is of two hours starting from 10am and ending at 12 am. The students are asked to reach the examination hall by 9am and should not enter later than 10 am. Any candidate who is late for the exam will not be allowed to enter the hall and will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

The candidates appearing for the IIFT exam should know about the exam pattern and the type of questions asked to get a clear idea of the model of the question paper and the time that is required to complete the paper. In such competitive examinations answering the paper smartly is very important. The candidate should be able to choose the answers wisely and complete those answers properly in the given frame of time.

  • Planning

Every student should prepare a pattern in which they plan to complete the answer paper in. the candidate should be able to complete the paper without feeling lost or in haste if they want to score as high as possible. The candidate can prepare their own pattern but to give a rough idea the aspirant should finish each question in 80 seconds.

  • Question paper

The exam is conducted in the old-fashioned way of paper and pen. The number of questions for the IIFT exam is known to vary from 120 to 150. The number of questions for IIFT 2019 is estimated to be around 123. The candidates will have two hours to finish the whole paper. The candidate does not have to complete the paper as there are negative marking questions as well. The questions asked are in a multiple-choice question format.

  • Syllabus

The candidates will be asked questions from a given set of topics. There are six sections in the paper which the candidate will be required to answer in two hours. The sections that comprise the IIFT exam question paper are given below.

1)      English Grammar

2)      Vocabulary and Comprehension

3)      General Knowledge & Current Affairs

4)      Logical Reasoning

5)      Quantitative Analysis

6)      Data Interpretation

The candidates can expect the following pattern for the questions asked. The question paper will have,

  1. English Usage- 20 questions
  2. Reading Comprehension- 16 questions
  3. General Awareness – 25 questions
  4. Logical Reasoning- 22 questions
  5. Quantitative Ability- 20 questions
  6. Data Interpretation- 20 questions

This pattern of questions asked will total to 123 questions for the IIFT exam 2019.

The registration portal for the candidates has started from the 14th August and will continue till the 24th of September 2018. The admit cards will be released on 16th November 2018. The admit card of the candidate will have the details about the time and the venue for the IIFT exam. The candidate is advised to reach the venue an hour before the start of the exam with a print out of them admit card and a government identity proof.

If the candidate wishes to change the center of the exam, he or she will have to pay around thousand rupees as fee to the system. The editing and changing of details in the application is open till a time only. The candidates can change their details in the application without paying any fee amount up to the mentioned date.

  • Marking scheme

The marking scheme for the IIFT exam changes every year. For example, the last exam had one mark given to every data interpretation question while the verbal ability questions were 0.5 marks each. The negative marking was one third of the total marks given for that question. The candidate will have to face negative marking if a question is answered wrong, thus answering only selected questions is advised. The candidate should not be in a hurry to finish the exam which will lead to calculation and reading mistakes which should be avoided by the aspirant.
