The official portal of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) has been down since today, January 7, morning. Candidates trying to download their admit cards were greeted with the message, ‘This site can’t be reached’.
The organising institute for GATE 2017, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) released the admit cards on January 4. An officials from GATE office, IIT-R, said, “There is no server problem from our side, the site may be down due to heavy traffic. Candidates can download the admit cards till the day of the exam.”
GATE 2017 candidates on social media, have posted, “We were trying to download admit cards, but the portal didn’t open. We gave up after about seven hours. Hopefully the site will be working tomorrow.”
Another GATE 2017 candidate said, “I was trying to check if a particular topic is in the syllabus, but the website wasn’t opening.”
