What is MAH CET MBA?

MAH-CET stands for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. The MAH-CET MBA is a computer-based entrance exam, solely for management. This exam is conducted for all universities and colleges that accept students through MAH-CET MBA exams.

The MAH-CET MBA exam allows you or a student to enrol in MBA or MMS courses in the state. The test comprises of multiple-choice questions and is covered under the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) carried out by the Competent Authority of the State of Maharashtra.

What does the MAH CET MBA test?

The MAH-CET MBA test functions as any other kind of MBA entrance exam. The question paper for the MBA comes with 200 questions, which a student is expected to solve in the stipulated time, i.e. in 150 minutes.

The MAH-CET entrance exam tests various kinds of abilities, which are:

  • Quantitative aptitude: The entrance exam tests the mathematical abilities of the candidate. The candidate should be able to solve numerical problems with speed and accuracy.
  • Verbal ability and reading comprehension: The entrance exam will also consider your verbal and reading skills as well. MAH-CET entrance exam has a section to test the candidate’s verbal skills, reading capabilities and general grammar.
  • Logical / abstract reasoning: The entrance exam also tests the candidates’ logical reasoning abilities. These questions can be based on verbal reasoning or reasoning via diagrams.

Each section of the entrance exam carries a different weightage.

When is the exam?

The exam dates for the MAH-CET entrance have been announced, and the entrance is to take place on 9th and 10th March 2019.

MAH-CET Syllabus

The entrance test will have two different sections, each section testing different capacities of the candidate. Here are the two bifurcations of the exam:

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension and
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Logical / Abstract Reasoning.

The total number of questions will be divided among the two different sections.

The syllabus for Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension will include:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar

The correct understanding of the language is required on the part of the candidate to answer these questions.

The syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude and Logical / Abstract Reasoning includes:

  • Arrangements
  • Data Structures
  • Geometry and its applications
  • Blood Relations
  • Numbers and its applications
  • Clocks and Calendars
  • Series
  • Direction Sense
  • Percentages and its applications
  • Puzzles
  • Ratio and Its applications
  • Coding-Decoding

As it is with the grammar section, for a candidate requires to understand the basic concepts of mathematics as well as reasoning, in order to find the correct answers.

Who can apply for the exam?

Students who are:

  • In the final year of their bachelor’s degree program,
  • Students who have already finished their bachelor’s degree program, with at least 50% marks and 45% marks for reserved students,
  • Candidates who are already appearing for other kinds of MBA entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, XAT, etc.

However, it must be remembered that for a student to appear for the exam, the student should fill the exam form according to the schedule.

How to appear for the exam?

When you wish to appear for the MAH-CET exams, you should:

  • Keep checking the official website for dates.
  • Keep an eye out for enrolment forms.
  • Find your admit card when it is released and download it.

Also, the exam can be taken by the student as per their preferred centres. The exam will be held on the respective dates. Although the pattern of the exam paper remains the same, the difficulty level of the exam papers may differ.
