IIM-I holds training on sustainable livelihood management for Tribal Youth in MP

The program was inaugurated at IIM Indore on February 1, 2008 by the chief guest, Mr Jaideep Govind, Commissioner (Tribal Development), Govt. of MP in the presence of Dr SP Parashar – IIM director, the program director – Prof. M. Scalem, IMPETUS Chair of IT & Systems, IIM Indore and invited participants.

This was an initial pilot project under which 20 students from tribal areas all over MP (Dhar, Jhabua, Badwani, Khargon, Dewas, etc) were selected. The classes were held at the PETC (Pre-Examination Training Centre) Building, Opposite Holkar Science College, A. B. Road, Indore.

The eleven day program was divided into eleven modules, with each module providing specialized knowledge. The modules taught were:

Day 1: Introduction to Management
Day 2: Retail & Marketing Management
Day 3: Agri and Rural Management
Day 4: Human Resource Management
Day 5: Industry Visits
Day 6: Information Technology management
Day 7: Finance Management
Day 8: Strategic Management
Day 9: Livelihood Management
Day 10: Entrepreneurship Management
Day 11: General management
