IIT Roorkee authorities reject 263 applications for GATE 2017

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R), the organising institute for the Graduate Aptitude of Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017, released a list of candidates that are ineligible to take the exam in February next year.

Candidates were disqualified as they did not have the requisite educational qualification to appear in GATE 2017. Candidates can check the list of rejected application on the official portal. The eligibility criteria for GATE is that students must either be in final year of bachelors (or equivalent degree) in engineering, or architecture or a Master’s degree in science, computer applications etc. The exam will be conducted branch wise in February 2017, on 4, 5, 11, and 12.

In 2016, about 8 lakh candidates took the exam, which is the entrance to India’s premier engineering institutes for post-graduate courses. The scores are also used by various Public Service Undertakings (PSUs) to recruit graduate engineers for entry level jobs.
