Important details to keep in mind for 2017-19 admission procedure of leading MBA institutes in India

Once a candidate clears the written entrance examination, he/she is expected to sit for a Group Discussion (GD) round, followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round which acts as an important selection and elimination round in the rat race to make it to the best B school. As students prepare for the various GDPI rounds of different MBA institutes, PaGaLGuY collates important admission procedure details of some of these institutes. 

IIM Ahmedabad

After the release of the CAT scores, which were declared on January 9, Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA) conducts its Academic Writing Tests and Personal Interviews (AWT & PIs) in cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi/NCR. Those shortlisted for AWT & PI were intimated through registered post or online notification on the website (www.iima.ac.in) by the second week of January 2017. No individual regret letters are sent to candidates not short-listed for AWT & PI.
After the AWT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIMA to successful candidates. The institute takes into consideration, a diverse set of attributes suc performance in CAT, performance in AWT & PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience and the likes to determine one’s ranking and selection. IMA emphasizes on the admission process to be transparent, yet at the same time, it also ensures on protecting the privacy of the individual candidates and confidentiality of the process to prevent any kind of abuse. Candidates, who qualify for the AWT & PI rounds will be able to view whether they have been offered admission by IIMA by visiting the IIMA website ,tentatively during the second week of April 2017. Thereafter, admission offer letter will be sent to all successful candidates. Those, who are offered admission, are expected to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities latest by the first/second week of May 2017. During the second week of April 2017 some candidates may also be placed on the waiting list. However, offers to them would depend upon the number of successful candidates accepting the offer made by the institute.

IIM Calcutta
Candidates are short listed on the basis of CAT 2016 score, past academic performance. Short-listing comprises candidates attaining the minimum section-wise and overall percentile in CAT 2016 as per the following table:
Candidates securing the above mentioned minimum percentile in each category in CAT 2016 will only be considered for calculation of their composite score, which is calculated on the basis of CAT 2016 score, Class X and Class XII aggregate percentages, and gender diversity factor. The composite cut-off score is used for short-listing the candidates for the PI stage.Candidates short-listed for the PI stage would be the discretion of the institute and would depend on the batch size of 2017-19.
As far as work experience is concerned, a maximum of four points will be awarded depending on the length of service as on January 31, 2017. A maximum of four points will be awarded depending on the length of service as on January 31, 2017.

XLRI

Xavier School of Management—XLRI, is best known for its courses—-PGDM in Human Resource Management (HRM) and PGDM in Business Management (BM). It’s results were out on January 25. While all Indian candidates appeared for XAT 2017, NRI and foreign candidates are allowed to apply through GMAT score (except Dubai and Kathmandu where the candidates have an option of appearing for XAT 2017).The interviews for HRM and BM candidates through XAT and GMAT will be conducted between mid-February and March 2017 in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur only.

Symbiosis
After the announcement of Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) result, various Management Institutions began announcing their cutoff marks. The candidates with a score more or equal to the cutoff marks automatically became eligible for SNAP pre-admission processes or selection procedure. There are 3 stages of SNAP selection, which are as follows –Group Exercise (GE).
Personal Interaction (PI), Writing Ability Test (WAT).
On the basis of one’s SNAP percentile,he/she will be shortlisted for the GE-PI/WAT round. These shortlisted candidates will then participate in the pre-admission rounds. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s overall performance in SNAP 2016, GE/WAT PI score.

IIM Indore
IIM Indore adopts a three-stage selection process (I) Eligibility criteria (II) Shortlist for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
Candidates short-listed for WAT and PI have already been intimated in the month of January 2017. Those who don’t qualify for the round will not be sent individual regret letters. IIM Indore conducts admission interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai only. However, the institute reserves the right to change the centres at any time if the situation so warrants. Candidates shortlisted for WAT and PI must have to attend the rounds otherwise they will be not be considered for the next stage of selection process. IIM Indore also expects a consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of Personal Interview (PI), which will be decided by Admissions Committee. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered.Category wise merit list will be generated based on Final Compositon Score which is the sum total of 10th, 12th standard marks, overall CAT score, WAT score and finally the PI score. WAT and PI schedule is already available on the Institute’s official website.

IIM Shillong
The entire process of shortlisting and selection of candidates at IIM Shillong for its Post Graduate Program is independent of all other IIMs.
Performance in CAT and consistently well academic record are important criteria for short-listing of candidates. Candidates appearing in GD and PI, will be able to check their status regarding admission offer by IIMS Shillong by the last week of April 2017 by visiting the institute’s website. The same information, along with offer document, will be sent over to the candidate’s registered e-mail. Such Candidates, who are offered admission, will need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities within the stipulated time frame. Failing to do so will forfeit their candidature and the offer will be made to candidates on wait-list. Wait list candidates may be required to respond to admission offer, if made at a short notice.

SP Jain–Two year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

The applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their profiles. They are also expected to meet the qualifying scores in at least one of the entrance exams. The profiles are scored and the applicants are sorted into two groups: Profile based and Profile cum Score based. The factors that are considered for selection of applicants are: overall profile, academic background, work experience, entrance scores, versatility and achievements. While applying the applicant is required to select a specialisation. Work experience is not mandatory for this program. Fresh graduates and those with up to five years of work experience can apply. Relevant work experience after graduation will be considered. Internship/ training/ project work which was a part of the curriculum will not be considered as work experience.

The Interview rounds for this course are underway since January 17 and will continue till February 17 in its Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai Phase 1 and 2 centres.

One year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) Course

Minimum 5 years of relevant (full time) work experience as on December 31, 2017. It accepts either GMAT/CAT/XAT score* with a consistent academic record
The institute will accept scores for (a) GMAT exam taken between August 15, 2014 and August 31, 2017 or (b) CAT scores for years of 2014/2015/2016 or (c) XAT scores for years of 2015/2016/2017, for this course.
Candidates can submit their GMAT Scores through GMAC [GMAT code: 6DQ-MJ-12] The last date for submission of GMAT scores is August, 15, 2017. Admissions are now open for the Post Graduate Programme in Management, Class of 2018. On-campus sessions commence in January 2018 preceded by a 3 month web learning module.

FMS (Faculty of Management Studies), New Delhi

The General Ability Test for the applicants of MBA Executive/MBA Executive(Health Care Administration) Programmes is scheduled to be held on 12th February, 2017 between 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi-North Campus. The Roll Numbers and Centre
Details will be available in due course on FMS website (www.fms.edu) as well as communicated to all candidates by e-mail.

On 12th February, 2017, all candidates are requested to bring selfattested copies of certificates of: their g
raduation with marks details, employment records showing experience certificate/date of joining and date of relieving for every employment, and finally an NOC/Sponsorship Form, if not already submitted.
Candidates who do not appear in the General Ability Test will not be called for Personal Interview.

New IIMs— (Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Amritsar, Bodhgaya, Sambalpur Udaipur, Trichy & Kashipur)

The 9 IIMs have announced their minimum required CAT 2016 percentile score to shortlist the candidates for CAP 2017 round-
IIM Kashipur: 90 Percentile
IIM Raipur: 90 percentile
IIM Ranchi: 90 Percentile
IIM Rohtak: 90 percentile
IIM Tiruchirappalli: 90 percentile
IIM Udaipur: 90 percentile
IIM Amritsar: 90 percentile
IIM Bodhgaya: 90 percentile
IIM Sambalpur: 90 percentile

The nine IIMs (IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur) have adopted a common process of WA&PI this time, which is to be coordinated by IIM Rohtak. If any of the older IIMs (Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore,Kozhikode, and Lucknow) share their WA & PI score with the 9 IIMs, the common candidates who have applied to new IIMs as well, do not have to appear for WA & PI process separately. The older IIMs will intimate the common candidates the names of candidates of older IIMs sharing WA & PI scores with new IIMs.
Common Admission Process (CAP) 2017 is to begin by the mid February 2017 and would continue for around 20 days. CAP 2017 is proposed to be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. Candidates will be able to check their admission status and CAP 2017 date on IIM Rohtak website.
