Intaglio launched by IIM Calcutta; Several New Initiatives Announced

The theme chosen for Intaglio 2007-08 is ‘Reaching Out… Staying Ahead’. Boundaries and limits are set only by the ability to dream, and the new era calls for an exploration beyond these old mental blocks, to reach out and uncover new avenues. Survival, Sustenance and Success, in that order, no longer mean clichéd price wars and senseless competition. Instead, it means moving a step further or several in fact, by forging strategic alliances with potential partners across the globe in pursuit of the ultimate goal of market leadership. It is this yearning to reach out to the future, the courage to experiment and the urge to stay ahead that Intaglio 2007-08 stands for.

This year, Intaglio is set to get bigger, with Knowledge Partnerships being planned with counterparts from the Ivy League and the best business schools across continents. The India Business Forum of the London Business School, a forum for global business leaders, leading academicians, financiers, entrepreneurs and students has confirmed that it will jointly work with Intaglio, thus making Intaglio a truly International Meet. More confirmations are expected from other international schools soon.

Intaglio also launched its new website: http://www.iimc-intaglio.com last week. In just over a week, the Intaglio site has received thousands of hits from 22 countries, indicating interest from all over the world – USA, Singapore, Australia, UK, France, Hong Kong, and from even as far as Zambia and Mozambique. This clearly represents the stature of IIM Calcutta and Intaglio in the eyes of the world.

One of the most popular features of Intaglio is the Swiss Knife honour. The prestigious Swiss Knife is awarded to the best overall team, the one that outperforms the competition consistently across the diverse events at Intaglio. Swiss Knife carries a prize money of INR 200,000 and the celebrated Swiss Knife trophy, along with a surprise gift for each member of the winning team. Registrations have already commenced for Swiss Knife. Over 1500 students had registered for Swiss Knife last year, and the figure is expected to exceed 2000.

Intaglio attracts some of the largest international participation, and it is set to grow even higher this year. Intaglio has already received confirmation of participation from over a dozen foreign business schools, including the Ivy League. Growing from the 40 Indian b-schools and 60 foreign schools last year, Intaglio has invited the top 60 institutes in India and close to 120 schools from across continents.

This apart, Intaglio has also opened up to corporate participation this year, with the launch of its new Corporate Quiz series ‘Curiosio’. Executives from over 40 major corporate houses, including the top Investment Banks, Consulting firms and Marketing majors, have already registered to participate in 8 of the major events at Intaglio.
