JEE (Advanced) 2016 website launched, IIT-Guwahati to conduct exam
In a quiet move in parallel to the ongoing stories rotating around the MHRD, the IITs, and NITs & other institutes, IIT-Guwahati has gone ahead and launched the JEE (Advanced) 2016 website already.
While much of the information is still pending given official notifications and even the dates are not yet out, especially JEE (Main) 2016, eligibility criteria and a few FAQs have been answered on the site, available at http://www.jeeadv.ac.in/
Some salient features about JEE (Advanced) 2016:
– The 7 zonal IITs conducting the JEE (Advanced) 2016 are: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati (primary), IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, & IIT Roorkee.
– The exam will be held in two languages, Hindi & English.

– Students get two chances to attempt the JEE (Advanced). Hence those students who had attempted the JEE (Advanced) 2015, but did not get into an IIT/ISM, are eligible to apply again.
– Students who have taken admission in NITs, IIITs, or other GFTIs through JEE (Main) 2015 are eligible to apply to the IITs/ISM through JEE (Advanced) 2016, as are students who have been admitted in a preparatory course at the IITs through JEE (Advanced) 2015.
– Candidates applying through the Defence Category will be applicable for the quota only if they are children of defence or paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in war or peacetime operations.
– Only students who appeared for their 12th class exams in 2015 or will be appearing in 2016 are eligible for the JEE (Advanced) 2016. If the results of students who appeared for their 12th exams in 2014 were declared after June 2014, these students shall also be eligible.
– Students should have been born on/after October 1,
