JoSAA 2017: Second round allotment results declared; 6,799 seats vacant after round 1

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), responsible for counselling of engineering aspirants in various engineering institutes across the country has made the second round seat allotment result public. Those candidates who have registered themselves for the counselling procedure will be able to check whether they have qualified for the second round seat allotment process by providing their JEE Main 2017 roll number and password. After the conclusion of first round of seat allotment, a total of 6,799 seats are still vacant. A total of 397 seats in various engineering streams are still vacant at the prestigious IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) across the country including IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi.

Earlier, JoSAA had made the list of opening and closing rank public through the official website for round one of selection. Those candidates who have already secured admission from the first round of seat allotment will have to choose between the options of ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’, to be part of the second round allotment. Selected candidates in the second round will have to pay the seat acceptance fee in order to secure their seat. Candidates can withdraw their seats before JoSAA conducts the seventh and final round of seat allotment. 

How to download JoSAA 2017 second round allotment result 

  • Candidates need to visit the official website 
  • On the homepage, there is an active link of ‘Round 2: View allotment result and seat acceptance fee’ 
  • On clicking the link, candidates will be directed to a page where they have to provide their JEE Main roll number and password
  • On submitting the information, candidates will get their result of seat allotment which they need to download for future reference

JoSAA is responsible for counselling of engineering aspirants who have taken JEE Mains and Advanced 2017 for admission in engineering departments of 93 academic institutes across the country.
