Launch of PGDM Healthcare at SIMSR – Batch 2018-2020 (30 Seats) AICTE Approved, 2 Year Full Time
Note on Healthcare Program
Economic development of a country is very closely related to its health and education indicators. Indian healthcare sector has not been able to realize its full potential on account of multiple challenges being faced by the industry. At present the industry is facing an acute shortage of resources as well as skilled manpower. India has 0.7 beds per 1,000 people which is well behind the 3.5 beds per 1000 people recommended by the WHO. The number of physicians in India per 1,000 people is at 0.7 as compared to the global average of 1.5 physicians per 1000 people.
The existing stakeholders are facing lot of challenges due to highly fragmented structure of the industry, underfinanced and short-staffed public sector, rising reins of regulatory and legal framework, high level of inequality between urban and rural areas and high level of competitive environment.
This untapped potential, if unlocked, could help Indian healthcare ecosystem leapfrog over its constraints and provide the required impetus that India needs in realizing Ministry of HRD’s vision of achieving ‘Healthcare for All’. National Healthcare Policy 2017 specifically mentions the policy goals to be equity, universality, affordability, care quality, leveraging technology, digital health, focus on preventive health and promotion of wellbeing. The design and structure of our PGDM Healthcare program is aligned with this vision. The Indian healthcare sector is expected to advance at a rate of 15 per cent during 2016–20 to reach USD 280 billion by 2020.
There is great employment potential for professionally trained manpower in healthcare eco system which comprises of Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Industry, Diagnostic Services, Medical Devices, R & D Services, Medical Insurance, Rural and Social Sector, Public Sector, Biotech, Wellness and Fitness Sector etc.
