Math was tricky and lengthy for the second time in JEE Main 2017 online exam
The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) conducted final round of JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main 2017 on April 9, across the country.
Speaking to PaGaLGuY about the examination today one aspirant from Kota, Aniruddha Majumdar said, “Mathematics was lengthy and tough and no questions from Mathematical Reasoning was there today. Chemistry was easier than offline and Physics was average with mixed bag questions.” For Anirudhha both online and offline questions were at par and some questions were tough and easier here and there in both the exams.
Ankita Saha from Agartala was also of the view that Physics and Chemistry questions were easier in the second day of the JEE Main online exam session. “I couldn’t fare well in Mathematics as I found it tough. Physics and Chemistry questions were of moderate level. Although I had thought I would be able to answer more in Chemistry, I couldn’t finish them on time,” informed Saha. She is preparing for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) as well, which is scheduled to take place on May 7.
“Although the examination went well without any technical glitches, the font of the questions was really big and I had to scroll multiple times in order to read the full question and see the answer options. It was quite annoying,” said Majumdar while replying to a question about the infrastructural glitches of his centre in Kota. Saha also faced a minor glitch as her photo was not visible on screen after logging in. “It didn’t make any trouble for me as I had all the other documents along with me,” said Saha.
The online examination of JEE Main doesn’t draw a lot of aspirants and the numbers have remained low this year as well. Anirudhha reported that there were only 150-200 aspirants taking the examination today, while Ankita informed her centre had hardly 40. “I opted for the online examination because my board examination was getting over on April 5 and I wanted a couple of days to prepare before the examination,” said Saha. Majumdar on the other hand opted for online examination because there is an option of correcting your answer any given time during the test. “You get a lot of papers for rough work and can always get back to a question to correct it in this mode. It is always advantageous than offline mode of the exam,” said Saha.
Aspirants selected in the JEE Main 2017 will have to prove their mettle at JEE Advanced on May 21. “Once I am done with my Physical Education board examination on April 12, I will focus entirely on JEE Advanced,” concluded Majumdar.
