NEET 2016: DME MP counselling for private and remaining government medical/dental seats begins today

After the Supreme Court order on September 22, 2016, scrapping the private medical college conducted counselling, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh will begin counselling for private medical/dental colleges today. The DME MP will also conduct the second and final round of counselling for government medical and dental colleges at the same time, as the apex court on September 14, 2016 had ordered a stay on government college admissions as well.

The five-judge bench, headed by Justice Anil R. Dave passed the order yesterday stating, “If any counselling has been done by any college or university and any admission to any medical seat has been given so far, such admission shall stand cancelled forthwith and admission shall be given only as per centralised counselling done by the state government.”

There are 96 vacant medical and dental seats available for the second and final round of counselling at government medical/dental colleges, and 1,397 medical and 1,137 dental seats in 25 private medical and dental colleges across the state.
