No identity certificate required for UPSC CSM 2016 candidates
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) authorities have released a notification on their official website for Civil Services 2016 candidates shortlisted for the Personality Test. Candidates have been informed that they no longer required to submit an identity certificate to appear for the test. The process of submission of the identity certificate has been dispensed here-on. Earlier this year, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had asked the UPSC authorities to discontinue the requirement of an identity certificate for appointment to various government posts. This move was initiated in order to reduce the delay in appointment of candidates.
Once the list of successful candidates for various government posts is made, the authorities undertake verification of the character of the candidates for which, the latter have to fill up an attestation form and provide their identity certificate. However, this led to delays in acquiring the identity certificate, leading to the appointment letter for the posts being withheld.
However, the UPSC authorities have now officially notified candidates about the change in document requirements.
